When she started at Roseville High, she was lonely and confused, but Roger took her under his wing and transformed her into the bitch she was during her Sophomore year. She terrorized the students alongside Roger, started rumors, and broke Rachel's brother Aaron's arm. These actions led to most of the Roseville High students hating her.

At the end of her sophomore year, she severed ties with Roger and cut her hair in an attempt to change. She met the main cast entered High School in Chapter 19. Being freshmen that year, the main cast knew nothing of Tess' bullying, and befriended her with ease. She gave Mike an orange and yellow scarf to replace his messy blue one in Chapter 25.

In Class of 2008, Tess graduates from Roseville High. She is surprised to learn that the students of Roseville have forgotten or forgiven her for her actions in freshman year. Only on rare occasions has she been depicted following her departure.

Abbey was introduced as a main character much later in the story than the others. He debuted when he confronted a depressed Daisy, asking what was wrong. Very soon after his introduction, he joined the rest of the group at their lunch table and quickly became friends with most of the other characters, the exception being Paulo, as he and Abbey are almost exact opposites in the way they live their lives. This is what causes Abbey to have much disdain for Paulo.

It is later shown that he is especially fond of Daisy, as he worries about her excessively while trying to help her with her problems. It is only until later in the comic that he confesses his feelings for her. In chapter 95 "Love Again", Daisy and Abbey broke up because he believes Daisy cares more about Paulo than him.

In the chapter 108 "Time Out", Paulo and Abbey have a moment alone together after a particularly heated conversation, and come to an understanding when Paulo relates to Abbey's family issues and talks about his relationship with his mother (or lack thereof). The two talk out their issues and slowly work toward resolving their rivalry, as Paulo gets closer to Daisy.

== Appearance ==
Abbey is an Abyssinian cat with reddish-brown fur with a more neutral brown hairstyle. He has a white diamond tuft of fur on his chest, and white fur on his arms and legs that resemble gloves and boots. His tail is pointed at the end as opposed to rounded like the other characters, and said tail has the same neutral-brown stripe color as his hair.

Abbey often goes without clothes, but in formal events, he will often wear long-sleeved shirts and pants. While not normally one to wear clothes in the cold, in [[New Year's Resolution|New Years Resolution]], he wears a turtleneck and coat.

Sandy's first appearance in the story is a flashback from her in the third grade. Quick to notice Mike, she compliments a drawing he made of her and becomes fast friends with him, despite pronouncing his name as "Maishul." As Sandy struggles with academics, Mike agrees to help her with her grades in exchange for the fish meals in her lunch, a lunch enjoyed by the two of them under a particular tree. They soon develop childhood crushes on each other, only to be crushed by the news Sandy would be moving away. Sandy promises to write letters to Mike, and the two would go on to exchange letters, a past-time first acknowledged in [[Unfulfilled Fantasy]].

Toward the end of middle school, Mike receives another letter from Sandy, whom Lucy teases Mike about before heading home. He frets over what his relationship status ''should'' be with Sandy, as the two likely would have ended up dating had Sandy never moved away. Unbeknownst to him, however, Sandy visits Mike's home, hoping to see him instead; when she inevitably misses him while he's in Maraschino searching for her, she leaves a gift of a bonsai tree with two tiny figures resembling her and Mike.

Yashy is considered one of the more outspoken and confident characters through the series, never being shy to speak her own mind or be a leader instead of being a follower. It should also be noted that she ends a lot of her sentences with “man” and has a tendency to take a few letters off of her words, abbreviating “spooking” into “spookin’” and “want to” into “wanna”. She’s a relatively brash character through the whole series, being used for comic relief and only getting serious with the cast on a few occasions.

Yashy is a green bipedal lizard. Her original design was based on the Yoshi Nintendo character before the comic began serialisation. Some of these traits have made it into the comic as gags, particularly Yashy is able to use her tongue, but has chose not to ever since Chapter 1 of the comic and is only seen using this within Chirpy’s Introduction. Yashy has dressed up in the past and was depicted in a cape with fangs for her Halloween costume in Mischief Night.

Yashy’s relationship with Blur is a mostly friendly one, the two of them playing cards and video games together on most occasions, with the exception of some insults being thrown at each other, usually in the heat of the moment. There have been some small romantic jabs between the two, but they seemed to be more centered around Blur trying to get Yashy’s attention rather than the other way around. Yashy also used to dislike Blur’s presence, but became friends with him as time went by and the latter now calls her “Greenie”.

Chirpy is Yashy’s “child”, with Chirpy treating Yashy as if she was her real mother, despite knowing that she was hatched from an egg years ago. She calls out her mother’s behaviour on occasion as she looks up to her, but Yashy never truly gets upset at Chirpy and loves her all the same. She seems to care if Chirpy is injured and talks to her whenever she wants to talk about something that Blur would be insulted by. She also calls Chirpy “Chirps” as a nickname and tries to protect her innocence.

Yashy’s relationship with Lily appears to be a love-hate relationship, where she only hates Lily if she loses to her in a card game or if Yashy questions why she’s still living in Lucy’s home. Although Lily has tried to attack them once after being pelted with small rocks, it’s possible that she was either aiming for Yashy or didn’t intend to hit anyone at all in an attempt to scare the pets. She also seems to be beyond dressing up as someone for Halloween and this leads to occasional complaints from Yashy about how old she acts.

Lucy has continuously acted as a mother to Yashy through most of the series, shielding her from the truth about Sandy and constantly telling the pets that she loves them, which is averted with her walking away from a crying Yashy in (December), showing her lack of care for the pets, followed by her leaving them behind in an unknown location after Chapter 76. Before that, she was the one that the pets loved the most, Yashy trying to reassure her about Mike’s fall in the Acapulco arc and Lucy saving Yashy when she was about to be engulfed by a huge wave.

Yashy sees Mike as Lucy’s true boyfriend and continuously calls him “flea” as a nickname through the series, but sees him as a friend for the majority of the series. Although Mike doesn’t like Yashy too much whenever she insults other people or ruins the moment, he wouldn’t imagine himself hurting her. Yashy does hurt him on occasion such as when Mike had a cast and calls him a “Glameow” when she picks a Pokemon for him.

Daisy is detested by Yashy as she believes that her main goal is to break up the relationship between Lucy and Mike, calling her “whore” at every possible occasion. Daisy seems to think of Yashy as an “annoyance”, which weirds her out, but it doesn’t look like Daisy hates Yashy at any point in the series, possibly believing that it’s just a phase.

Yashy was taken in by Paulo’s charms during Chapter 8 of the comic, but later looks up to him in the series, calling him awesome after he pulls off an interesting trick while the group is walking across a cliff in (Search and Rescue) and sings along with him on the plane. Madison was first seen in Total Recall, but had no dialogue.

She is first formally introduced in Golden Hour. Where Paulo notices her, and continually hits on her, noting how similar she is to Lucy. David also points out to Madison how similar she is to Lucy, pointing out that Jessica also had a crush on Lucy as well, which makes Madison insecure.

In PDA, Madison yells at Lucy (who is unable to hear her, due to her deaf ear). Madison projects all her insecurities about her perception of being a replacement Lucy, or a second choice. Jessica overhears this, and kisses Madison, and lets her know that she loves her and cares about her way more than Lucy.

In Fair Game, Jessica throws Madison a birthday party at the bowling alley, to Madison's delight. Although, Madison is a little irritated that Paulo and David got invited.

In Double Down, Augustus is invited to hang out with the senior group of friends, to which Augustus asks if he can bring Lucy along. The senior group gets noticeably nervous., due to Madison's history of disliking Lucy. Madison assures them that it would be okay for Lucy to join them, since she recently learned about some of Lucy's troubled. history

Matt is first seen in Happy Hour, where he celebrates drinks arriving to Rachel's party, and encourages the gang to dance with him at the party.

Later in Take Heart, Paulo suspects that Rachel and Matt are an item, and comes up with a scheme with Daisy to win back Rachel's affections. Rachel reveals to Paulo that Matt is in fact, gay.

In Total Recall, Matt joins Rachel, Paulo, Jessica, Jordan, and Tiff on a limo ride to Junior prom. He insists that Paulo drive them all back after prom. With Paulo driving Matt and Jordan, they get in a car accident where Matt ends up with a minimum amount of injuries.

In Boy Toy, Matt offers Paulo to join him and Rachel on a beach vacation, to which Paulo responds rudely to due to Matt's sexual orientation.

During the trip, in Golden Hour, Matt tries to be friendly with Paulo multiple times, to be constantly rebuffed. Eventually, Paulo yells at Matt, accusing him of hitting on Paulo. Matt informs Paulo that he doesn't see Paulo that way, and Paulo breaks down in tears over guilt over how he's been treating Matt. Paulo ends the night hugging Matt, "Testing something out."

In Fair Game, Paulo helps Matt find out if his crush, Jordan, is also gay. Paulo is unhappy to report back to Matt that Jordan is straight, and compliments Matt on his positivity, even when things look bleak for him. This prompts Matt to break down in tears. He comments that it is a lot harder than anyone thinks, and he is scared of the future and if he will even find anyone out there for him. Paulo holds Matt and cries along with him, reassuring him that he's going to find an amazing guy who is leagues better than Jordan.

== Personality ==
Abbey was introduced as a main character much later in the story than the others. He debuted when he confronted a depressed Daisy, asking what was wrong. Very soon after his introduction, he joined the rest of the group at their lunch table and quickly became friends with most of the other characters, the exception being Paulo, as he and Abbey are almost exact opposites in the way they live their lives. This is what causes Abbey to have much disdain for Paulo.

It is later shown that he is especially fond of Daisy, as he worries about her excessively while trying to help her with her problems. It is only until later in the comic that he confesses his feelings for her. In chapter 95 "Love Again", Daisy and Abbey broke up because he believes Daisy cares more about Paulo than him.

In the chapter 108 "Time Out", Paulo and Abbey have a moment alone together after a particularly heated conversation, and come to an understanding when Paulo relates to Abbey's family issues and talks about his relationship with his mother (or lack thereof). The two talk out their issues and slowly work toward resolving their rivalry, as Paulo gets closer to Daisy.

An eternally chipper, dimwitted chocolate Labrador Retriever and Paulo’s best friend, David could generally be considered as the comic relief of the story but he sometimes makes very astute observations.

He has been known to make references to video games, which may or may not mean that he plays them, calling Augustus "Final Fantasy Cat" due to the fact that his appearance makes him seem like he is straight out of a Final Fantasy game.

David tends to blow things out of proportion due to having a wild imagination. An example of this being that he calls his beloved "Flower Girl" a goddess.

Kind, studious, and cheerful, Daisy is a distinguished straight-A student on Roseville's high honor roll who balances her academics with her cheerleading activities, as well as her social life spent with Abbey, Mike, Paulo, and the others of their friend group.

She is shown on numerous occasions to be very forthright with her emotions, rarely being one to conceal how she feels. This can serve as a double-edged sword: while her honesty helped patch up her friendship with Paulo in "Unspoken Rule," it also precipitated her first breakup with her ex-boyfriend Abbey after the events of "Happy Hour." This isn't to mention that the only reason why her friendship with Paulo had to be mended in the first place was because Daisy had confronted Paulo, rather harshly, about the way he treated Abbey in "Golden Hour."

But despite her dramatic ups and downs, Daisy is consistently one who wishes to get along with everyone. Being on poor terms with any of her friends bothers her, and if she can do something about it, she'll oftentimes apologize.

Daisy has curly, creamy fur that, much to her embarrassment, easily "fluffs up" when she becomes flustered or aggrieved. The tip of her tail is white.

She is seen donning a pearl necklace at all times, and only wears clothes on special occasions — such as at the carnival with Mike in "Love My Way," Tessa's Christmas party in "At Loose Ends," Rachel's birthday party in "Happy Hour," and at the convention with Paulo in "Guest of Honor" while cosplaying the fictitious Claret.

Daisy is notably self-conscious and insecure about her own appearance, which was first touched upon in "Carry On" and further explored in subsequent chapters. Because she is not as well-developed as the other females in her friend group, she believes herself to be disregarded as a prospective romantic interest for many of the boys. She is also considered to be chubbier than the others, yet another source of her insecurity that certainly isn't helped by her characteristic fluffiness.

Lucy

Though Daisy and Lucy have spent many years of their elementary, middle and high school years together, they were not the best of friends for the most part. Paulo starts off as being an obnoxious womanizer. He puts on a playboy personality to try to pick up girls. He tends to pick on all his male friends, except his best friend, David. He is shown to be an incredibly genuine and honest person. His no filter, loud mouth, will often get him in trouble.

Paulo is a Somali with long orange fur and white highlights on his chest and face. His hair tips are a darker brown and his eyes are a lighter brown.

Paulo is largely seen without clothes unless the situation calls for it. These include formal occasions include dates as he did on dates with Rachel and Jessica

In Unspoken Rule, Paulo gets a haircut, and for the rest of the comic his cheek hairs are a lot less bushy.

Lucy

In the beginning of the comic, Paulo was a bit of a menace to Lucy. Most of their interactions can be seen as Paulo harassing her, often inappropriately. More often than not, this would land him as the victim of many well deserved cartoonish thrashings.

It is revealed that Paulo was Lucy's first crush, back in fifth grade. Unfortunately for Paulo, his own crush on Lucy left him too insecure to talk to him. This inspired him to take advice from a high school "player" on how to hit on girls in order to talk to Lucy. She was not a fan of this obnoxious newfound personality Paulo developed.

Mike

In the beginning, Paulo was incredibly antagonistic towards Mike, not taking him seriously and constantly picking on him. He is even seen being jealous of Mike because of how close he was to Lucy. Paulo has saved Mike's life before, back when the two were playing by a river and Mike fell in.

Later on, Paulo and Mike would start becoming closer friends. Paulo is shown to care for Mike, worry about him. They have gotten into some physical fights, but always apologize and make up afterwards. During Happy Hour, an intoxicated Paulo calls Mike his best friend. It is implied Paulo may potentially have a crush on Mike as well.

When Mike's relationship with Sandy starts getting rocky, Paulo pushes Mike to communicate with her more and set boundaries. Paulo consistently expresses to Mike that Sandy should be treating Mike better, despite Mike's own objections to the notion.

Daisy

Daisy is one of Paulo's best friends.

In Feline Filibuster Paulo is shown to have played a big part of campaigning for Daisy on his own accord, resulting in her winning the sophomore student election. Jasmine teases Paulo for how much he cares about Daisy.

In Guest of Honor, Abbey physically assaults Paulo, and tells him to stay away from Daisy. Days after this, Daisy berates Paulo over the phone for treating Abbey so poorly, and how that has poorly affected their relationship. For months after this phone call, Paulo avoided communicating with Daisy. Daisy finds out in Love Again about Abbey's threat and his assault of Paulo, and the two break up.

Daisy approaches Paulo later, and apologizes, and tells him how much she misses him. She is incredibly pained that she let Abbey get in the way of her relationship with Paulo.

After being pressured by Lucy to attend Daisy's birthday party, Paulo and Daisy have a one on one at the party. They find out that they both look up to and respect each other. They also discuss how attractive they are to each other, Daisy specifically calling Paulo "Strong and soft."

In Featured Attraction, it is revealed that Daisy has a crush on Paulo, that Paulo is completely unaware of.

David

David is Paulo's best friend. They first met in elementary school, bonding over both living in single parent households.

In Golden Hour, David tells Paulo he loves him. This scares Paulo at first, but the following day Paulo realizes he appreciates David's affections towards him.

David has openly expressed multiple times how much Paulo and Daisy should date. He will openly express this to Paulo's face, much to Paulo's distress.

Rachel

Paulo and Rachel go on a date and end up hooking up. While Paulo is mourning Lucy's departure from Roseville, he and Rachel hook up again and end up becoming friends with benefits. The relationship starts off really casual, but Rachel ends up developing feelings for Paulo. It's not until Lucy returns to Roseville, that they end their friends with benefits situation, but remain friends.

Matt

When Paulo first meets Matt, he becomes jealous that Matt and Rachel might be more than just friends. Paulo later learns that Matt is in fact, gay, and Paulo starts treating Matt in quite a rude manner. When Rachel brings Paulo along on a beachside weekend getaway, Paulo ends up lashing out at Matt, and immediately apologizing, displaying incredible guilt. Matt and Paulo talk it out and come to terms, where Paulo hugs Matt and holds him by a campfire.

Later Paulo investigates Matt's crush, Jordan, to see if Jordan is gay. Upon learning that Jordan is not, he tells Matt, and compliments Matt on how hardy he is, being in such a touch situation. Matt ends up having a breakdown, where Paulo talks him down, both of them crying in the process.

Lucy is depicted early on as an archetypal "tsundere" character; she is rude, condescending and often violent to those around her. As she develops more over time, she begins to show traits of insecurity and dependency issues alongside her more aggressive side, especially around Mike.

In kindergarten Lucy would often play in solitude as she held no interest in girl games to fit in with the other girls and was excluded by the boys due to her gender. Lucy would eventually normalize to being alone and convinced herself any interaction from another child would have some ulterior motive. Befriending Mike would later bring about a more dependent nature, further isolating her feelings from others.

When Lucy began middle-school she found herself receiving more attention from other students, the concept of which was foreign to her. What came out of this attention was a notably violent, competitive and abrasive Lucy. She dislikes the attention she receives for her looks, saying in "It's All in the Mind" that "she never wanted it". She becomes aggressive when boys hit on her (as shown in “Escape Route” and “Left Behind”) or when her appearance and body are pointed out/complimented by others. Being objectified constantly for her appearance has worsened Lucy's fears that people only want her for her looks; as a result she regards interactions from other people as being driven by an ulterior motive.

Despite all this, she still often exhibits a sweet and loving nature toward her friends, to whom she is fiercely loyal.

While she is still violent and rather rude, Lucy showed a more considerate side in later chapters. In "Eternal Flame", she acknowledges her past mistakes and previous treatment of Mike during their conversation under the tree. In "Double Down", she tells Augustus that she doesn't want to stop him from making friends and reminding him not to let her get into the way of things. She also finds it difficult to accept help from other people.

Lucy is a Khao Manee. Traditional to her breed her fur is short, smooth, and white; both of her her eyes are blue. She has a fluffy tail. She happens to be deaf in her left ear. She and her mother are the only two in their family who share this trait. Within the universe of the comic, Lucy is generally considered very attractive by those around her, despite her near-constant apathetic or even grouchy-looking expression. However, her beauty causes her to receive a lot of unwanted attention and get hit on constantly by boys, (which she doesn’t like) while she is the subject of envy from some girls (such as Daisy) due to her good looks.

In earlier parts of the comic, Lucy is often portrayed as angry, grumpy, or prone to pouting in most situations, while in later parts she's portrayed as more muted and apathetic. In earlier chapters of the comic, Lucy had short "hair", but in the later chapters, her figure has developed more and her hair has grown slightly longer.

Lucy is largely seen wearing little or no clothing, the exceptions being accessories like backpacks and a pink ribbon around her neck. The ribbon had been given to her by her Mother when she was a child and is a trademark of hers throughout the majority of the comic. Lucy's association to the color pink is extended to other clothes (in the few instances she wears them), including when she wore a pink nightgown to her friend Daisy's sleepover or a pink shirt underneath a lavender coat and jeans in one intermission page.

When Lucy relocates back to Roseville High in the chapter “Love Again”, she is wearing her private school uniform, consisting of a navy-blue sweater, black skirt, stockings and shoes.

In the latter half of the chapter "Eternal Flame", Lucy wears her winter clothes, which consists of a red double-breasted trench coat, a voluminous knee-length skirt with a dark red lace hem, a ribbon-like red belt on her waist, dark red leggings, and red boots that match the color of her trench coat. She wears a yellow scarf to complete her outfit.

Lucy was born and raised alongside with her older brothers in Roseville. Her earliest interactions outside of her family first began when she first met Mike in preschool, of whom started the interaction by inquiring about her interest in boy games, likely something that may have been from having older brothers. Unfortunately for Mike, as he lamented in Left Behind Lucy for some reason didn't find this amusing at all and began going out of her way in competing in everything against him to prove she was better . Mike would eventually tire of this rivalry as the year went on. They would both find themselves separated in their Kindergarten year. Upon failing to find Mike, Lucy understood she needed to find new friends, but she would find herself unable to get along with the other girls due to her disinterest in dolls and other girly toys, and found herself unable to play with the boys because they didn't want to play with a girl. For that year, Lucy either played or sat by herself alone, only regarding interactions from other people as being driven by motive rather than regarding her.

Lucy and Mike would reunite in first grade, much to the chagrin of the later who wanted nothing further to do with her. However Lucy would insist on being friends realizing from her past year experience that Mike was the closest person she could consider one. Overtime Lucy would show Mike a more sincere and friendly side of her she never showed previously.

In third grade Lucy would once again feel isolated and alone, this time by Mike as his attention would turn to Sandy, a girl whom he met and began crushing on during Lucy's absence in Kindergarten. Feeling abandoned but not wanting to relive the same feeling she had during kindergarten, Lucy would resolve to become more independent of Mike and anyone else. This would lead to Lucy having the most miserable year despite attempts by Sandy to befriend her and include her in their games. During this time Lucy would discover Yashy's egg and began instilling it with her trust and love in place of those around her. Sandy would leave at the end of the year, leaving Mike with Lucy again. Because of this, Lucy would once again find herself closer to Mike and being unable to fulfill her earlier obligation to becoming more independent.

Life would once again resume as normal until Lucy and Mike began their first day of middle school, where Lucy found herself. Having only experienced loneliness for the greater part of her childhood, Lucy became afraid at the sudden jolt of attention. Not desiring attention of that nature again, Lucy made the conclusion the competitive and abrasive attitude she had in her preschool year made her appear less desirable, and fell back to that behavior, leading to the Lucy seen throughout most of the comic.

Despite this change in behavior, Lucy would find more friends, including Daisy as an acquaintance of Mike, and Paulo when he arrived in the fifth grade, of whom she developed an early crush on. They would be eventually joined by Sue in their freshman year, who begged Lucy to be allowed into their group. Lucy would agree as she didn't find Sue particularly annoying.

Mike

Lucy befriended Mike in kindergarten despite an earlier rocky start in preschool. She developed a crush on him and would soon grow very attached and dependent of him. Despite loving him, Lucy would exhibit most of her meaner traits on Mike, often insulting or even hurting him. Even after Mike began to like Lucy back, she would continue to mistreat him and push him away.

During their trip to Acapulco she would begin to question her behavior around him, worrying he won't be there for her forever. She would later confess her feelings to him, but by this point he had already started dating Sandy and no longer felt the way he used to about her. Their relationship would grow more distant, eventually leading to Mike resenting Lucy for how she's acted around him.

Although Lucy tried to restore their friendship, Mike later ended his relationship with her, calling her a parasite and telling her no one really cares about her. This causes her to break down with further interactions with him leading to her attempted suicide.

After a semester at a different school, Lucy returns to Roseville High, seemingly better and making no attempt to interact with Mike, until he catches her alone on her way home and tries to talk to her seemingly guilty for the events causing her to leave Roseville. Mike attempts to apologize however is unable to admit that his affection for Sandy was the reason for their friendship to sour. In a final moment between the two, Lucy turns around and flips off Mike, telling him, "I don't fucking like you anymore, okay?", ending the argument and their friendship for good.

In Eternal Flame, Mike accidentally runs into Lucy at the tree they used to sit under. Mike tells her that he and Sandy broke up, because she was cheating on him. He apologizes to her for all the things he said in December, and that he misses her and it tears him up inside to see where their friendship ended up. Lucy comforts Mike, but before they leave, Mike tells Lucy that he never stopped thinking about her. He reveals that back when he got his original blue scarf, he got it thinking about Lucy's eyes. They embrace each other in a kiss.

The next day, Mike reveals that he and Sandy have gotten back together, leaving Lucy heartbroken.

Paulo

Both Paulo and Lucy met during middle school when Paulo was introduced to the class upon his arrival in Roseville, the two developing an interest in each other from an early start. However, this friendship would be initially hampered by both of them being too shy to talk to one another. This would lead to Lucy having her feelings hurt by believing he was no different from the other boys who ignored her. The friendship would be further soured when Paulo sought help to improve his confidence to allow himself to speak with her, only to be rejected outright by her through behaviors she detested the most from boys.

Paulo would persist regardless and would continue being attentive toward her when she needed a helping hand. In return Lucy's opinion of him would gradually improve over time to a point where they were close friends, but she could never return the feelings he had for her because of her feelings for Mike. Their friendship would substantially improve when Mike would reject her confession, and Paulo became a reliable shoulder to cry on, eventually being a short-lived rebound. Despite finding himself in a relationship with another girl through a situation he'd gotten himself into, Paulo let Lucy know he would still be on her side.

Paulo would be worst affected during her departure, having broken off his previous relationship and admitting his feelings to Lucy before she went on stage in the play, only for her to leave town the day after. There would be no further contact between the two until her return to Roseville for good. Lucy would visit him in the hospital as he recovered from a car crash, although he fell unconscious at the time.

Paulo was ecstatic at Lucy's return to Roseville in the start of their junior year and was eager to have things resume to normal. Paulo would skip a period in school to beat Lucy to her house to invite her on a date to the carnival. But Lucy could not reciprocate Paulo's feelings for her even then, and could not answer a question if she would have been in a relationship with Paulo if she didn't leave Roseville.

Their relationship has since stalled when Paulo discovered the real reason behind her return.

Augustus

Augustus and Lucy had an initially complex relationship, with Lucy aware of Augustus' interactions with Daisy and not willing to deal with him and whatever intentions he had for her. In the intervals where the two crossed paths, they would often tease and insult each other over their respective mistakes and broken relationships with others. This resulted in the two eventually getting to know each other more and becoming better friends as time went on.

Their relationship makes significant progression when Lucy attempts to get to know Augustus outside of school one day when seeking company outside of her usual friends. Augustus is reluctant, telling her he lives nearly an hour out from Roseville. This does not deter her, and Augustus just barely manages to keep her from following him by convincing the bus driver she wasn't boarding. She attempts again on another day by beating him to the bus. Unable to make her leave, he has no choice but to let her follow, where she learns exactly where he lives, his family, his living conditions, and his relationship to a certain someone she is a detested acquaintance of.

Upon her return to Roseville, Lucy passes on eating with her old friends during lunch and heads to the playground where she and Augustus used to hang out. Expecting him to have graduated and be in a better place, she is instead in surprise to find him there. In tears, Lucy embraces him before learning he's had to repeat the year due to running afoul of the absentee policy.

Unhappy that Augustus' situation hadn't improved during the time she was away, Lucy brings him to her house and reveals to her family that Augustus had been the one who called an ambulance when she attempted suicide, and uses this as a means to convince her family to allow Augustus to move in with them.

Family

Lucy has a very protective family, given her history and drama with her friends. Her two brothers, Jordan and Sam, are especially protective of her when it comes to the boys in her life. After Lucy became suicidal, her parents decided to transfer her to another school for her own safety. Pets

Lucy has three pets, Lily, Yashy, and Chirpy. Lily is a hedgehog, and the oldest of the three. She assumes a very motherly role toward Lucy and the other pets, offering life advice throughout Lucy's different experiences. Yashy is more excitable and would regularly sneak into school with Lucy up until high school. She would be incredibly defensive and protective of Lucy, who she sees as a mother. Chirpy is Lucy's bird.

Mike has always been the nice guy. He is quiet and intelligent, skilled at running, and well liked by his female friends. He's dutiful in his friendships, regularly helping with homework or other tasks.

Mike is a Korat. Like others of his breed, his fur is short and blueish gray, and he has extremely sensitive hearing.

Mike is most often seen clothed in just a scarf, and has worn three different scarves over the course of the comic. Initially, he wore a plain blue scarf, implied to be chosen due to matching Lucy's eye color. It was discarded when it became dirtied and bloodied due to Paulo siccing a crowd of girls on Mike, accusing him of being a cheater. Not long after, Mike began wearing a yellow striped scarf given to him by Tess, which, much later, was in turn replaced by a light blue scarf given to him by Sandy, who chose its color to match her ribbon. Tess was incredibly hurt by this. She thought they were friends.

Lucy

Mike became friends with Lucy in kindergarten. Lucy, by that time, developed a crush on him, becoming very dependent and attached to him. However, she'd project most of her meaner traits onto him, often insulting or even hurting him. Even when Mike began to like Lucy back, she would continue to mistreat him and push him away. Mike would try to play her insults and physical violence off as a joke, but started to realize it was more serious, after Sandy said she didn't like Lucy over the phone.

During their trip to Acapulco, Mike started to feel angry towards Lucy after she broke down when he almost died, believing she was only worried because she needed someone to take care of her, and not because she liked him. Lucy then started to question her behavior around him, worrying he wouldn't be there for her forever. She would later confess her feelings to him, but by this point he had already started dating Sandy and no longer felt the way he used to about her. Their relationship would grow more distant, eventually leading to Mike avoiding Lucy for how she's acted around him. Although Lucy tried to restore their friendship, Mike later ended his relationship with her, calling her a parasite and telling her no one really cares about her. This causes her to break down, with further interactions with him leading to her attempted suicide.

When Mike learns about her suicide attempt, he feels guilty and breaks down crying. After spending a semester at a different school, Lucy returned to Roseville High, seemingly better, although she avoided Mike. Mike feels guity about how he treated her and attempts to apologize, but Lucy claims that she doesn't likes him anymore and walks away.

Sandy

Mike and Sandy were grade-school sweethearts. They later started a long distance relationship. Mike eventually got his own cell phone and they became frequent texters.

After a year of their long distance relationship(?) Sandy started texting less often. Mike brushed his anxiety over this as himself being too needy. Eventually Sandy's responses are weeks apart.

After confronting Sandy about her absence in their relationship, she reveals that she has feelings for another man. Sandy hangs up on Mike, and he assumes the relationship is over.

After being consoled by Lucy, Mike returns home to find Sandy has been trying to call him back. They get back together.

As of right now, Mike is currently unhappy with his relationship with Sandy, and has even cheated on her.

Daisy

Since the very beginning, Daisy has had a huge crush on Mike. Unfortunately for her, Mike doesn't seem to pay too much attention to her. She doesn't ever actually go out with him until Love My Way, which goes disastrously wrong.

If there is a dispute between Mike and any other character, Daisy will choose Mike's side, even he is definitely in the wrong. Mike feels terrible for not returning Daisy's feelings, especially seeing as how her feelings for Mike have gotten in the way of her own relationships.

In winter of Junior year Daisy informs Mike that she has finally gotten over her crush on him. In spite Sandy for cheating on him, Mike kisses Daisy on the cheek. She returns it with a longing kiss on the lips. After expressing guilt over potentially playing with Daisy's feelings just then, Daisy lets him know the kiss meant nothing.

Augustus is a Siamese cat with primarily white fur, though he has prominent black patches on his arms and legs that give him the appearance of wearing knee high boots and gloves. He has black eyes with a stud piercing in his left eyebrow, and messy, white hair with long center parted bangs.

Always rocking a black tank top undershirt, Augustus wears various outfits throughout the comic. Most notable are the poncho worn in his debut through to the end of his Junior year, and the black leather jacket with a buckled collar that replace the poncho at the start of his first senior year.
