Abbey

Abbey is a well-meaning teen with a predilection for formality and big words. A defender of the weak (or so he thinks), Abbey has a strict moral code that he won't budge on, lest he resemble someone he strongly dislikes - and it's taken time - but he wants to put in the work to fix his fatal flaw.

Personality

Abbey was introduced as a main character much later in the story than the others. He debuted when he confronted a depressed Daisy, asking what was wrong. Very soon after his introduction, he joined the rest of the group at their lunch table and quickly became friends with most of the other characters, the exception being Paulo, as he and Abbey are almost exact opposites in the way they live their lives. This is what causes Abbey to have much disdain for Paulo.

It is later shown that he is especially fond of Daisy, as he worries about her excessively while trying to help her with her problems. It is only until later in the comic that he confesses his feelings for her. In chapter 95 "Love Again", Daisy and Abbey broke up because he believes Daisy cares more about Paulo than him.

In the chapter 108 "Time Out", Paulo and Abbey have a moment alone together after a particularly heated conversation, and come to an understanding when Paulo relates to Abbey's family issues and talks about his relationship with his mother (or lack thereof). The two talk out their issues and slowly work toward resolving their rivalry, as Paulo gets closer to Daisy.

Appearance

Abbey is an Abyssinian cat with reddish-brown fur with a more neutral brown hairstyle. He has a white diamond tuft of fur on his chest, and white fur on his arms and legs that resemble gloves and boots. His tail is pointed at the end as opposed to rounded like the other characters, and said tail has the same neutral-brown stripe color as his hair.

Abbey often goes without clothes, but in formal events, he will often wear long-sleeved shirts and pants. While not normally one to wear clothes in the cold, in New Years Resolution, he wears a turtleneck and coat.

Freshman year

1. Humble Approach: Abbey helps Daisy when she falls, and gets insulted by Paulo. The following day, Abbey offers to help Mike with math homework, and Mike subsequently invites him to sit at their lunch table.
2. Flirting with Disaster: Abbey contemplates with Tess on why Mike and Lucy aren't together.
3. Feline Festivities: Abbey follows around Paulo, chastising him for having a mistletoe headband, and later gets onto David for "spiking" the punch bowl... before realizing it had literal spikes.
4. Follow Me: Abbey is concerned when Daisy takes a long absence from the table, and misses out on a chance to check on Daisy because Augustus has her attention first.
5. Bonding: Abbey is distressed to learn Daisy is spending lunchtime with Augustus.
6. Under Pressure: Abbey reaches out to Daisy, concerned that Augustus is making her act out or setting her up for something nefarious. He looks for Augustus in the junior hallway, only to find Tess cornered by an angry student, Noah. Abbey punches the would-be assailant and soon learns why Tess was being cornered in the first place. He is much more forgiving to her and her circumstances than Noah's, and informs Tess that she has to tell the others, but they'll understand - especially Paulo.
