Personality

Paulo starts off as being an obnoxious womanizer. He puts on a playboy personality to try to pick up girls. He tends to pick on all his male friends, except his best friend, David. He is shown to be an incredibly genuine and honest person. His no filter, loud mouth, will often get him in trouble.

Appearance

Paulo is a Somali with long orange fur and white highlights on his chest and face. His hair tips are a darker brown and his eyes are a lighter brown.

Paulo is largely seen without clothes unless the situation calls for it. These include formal occasions include dates as he did on dates with Rachel and Jessica

In Unspoken Rule, Paulo gets a haircut, and for the rest of the comic his cheek hairs are a lot less bushy.

Major relationships

Lucy

In the beginning of the comic, Paulo was a bit of a menace to Lucy. Most of their interactions can be seen as Paulo harassing her, often inappropriately. More often than not, this would land him as the victim of many well deserved cartoonish thrashings.

It is revealed that Paulo was Lucy's first crush, back in fifth grade. Unfortunately for Paulo, his own crush on Lucy left him too insecure to talk to him. This inspired him to take advice from a high school "player" on how to hit on girls in order to talk to Lucy. She was not a fan of this obnoxious newfound personality Paulo developed.

Mike

In the beginning, Paulo was incredibly antagonistic towards Mike, not taking him seriously and constantly picking on him. He is even seen being jealous of Mike because of how close he was to Lucy. Paulo has saved Mike's life before, back when the two were playing by a river and Mike fell in.

Later on, Paulo and Mike would start becoming closer friends. Paulo is shown to care for Mike, worry about him. They have gotten into some physical fights, but always apologize and make up afterwards. During Happy Hour, an intoxicated Paulo calls Mike his best friend. It is implied Paulo may potentially have a crush on Mike as well.

When Mike's relationship with Sandy starts getting rocky, Paulo pushes Mike to communicate with her more and set boundaries. Paulo consistently expresses to Mike that Sandy should be treating Mike better, despite Mike's own objections to the notion.

Daisy

Daisy is one of Paulo's best friends.

In Feline Filibuster Paulo is shown to have played a big part of campaigning for Daisy on his own accord, resulting in her winning the sophomore student election. Jasmine teases Paulo for how much he cares about Daisy.

In Guest of Honor, Abbey physically assaults Paulo, and tells him to stay away from Daisy. Days after this, Daisy berates Paulo over the phone for treating Abbey so poorly, and how that has poorly affected their relationship. For months after this phone call, Paulo avoided communicating with Daisy. Daisy finds out in Love Again about Abbey's threat and his assault of Paulo, and the two break up.

Daisy approaches Paulo later, and apologizes, and tells him how much she misses him. She is incredibly pained that she let Abbey get in the way of her relationship with Paulo.

After being pressured by Lucy to attend Daisy's birthday party, Paulo and Daisy have a one on one at the party. They find out that they both look up to and respect each other. They also discuss how attractive they are to each other, Daisy specifically calling Paulo "Strong and soft."

In Featured Attraction, it is revealed that Daisy has a crush on Paulo, that Paulo is completely unaware of.

David

David is Paulo's best friend. They first met in elementary school, bonding over both living in single parent households.

In Golden Hour, David tells Paulo he loves him. This scares Paulo at first, but the following day Paulo realizes he appreciates David's affections towards him.

David has openly expressed multiple times how much Paulo and Daisy should date. He will openly express this to Paulo's face, much to Paulo's distress.

Rachel

Paulo and Rachel go on a date and end up hooking up. While Paulo is mourning Lucy's departure from Roseville, he and Rachel hook up again and end up becoming friends with benefits. The relationship starts off really casual, but Rachel ends up developing feelings for Paulo. It's not until Lucy returns to Roseville, that they end their friends with benefits situation, but remain friends.

Minor relationships

Matt

When Paulo first meets Matt, he becomes jealous that Matt and Rachel might be more than just friends. Paulo later learns that Matt is in fact, gay, and Paulo starts treating Matt in quite a rude manner. When Rachel brings Paulo along on a beachside weekend getaway, Paulo ends up lashing out at Matt, and immediately apologizing, displaying incredible guilt. Matt and Paulo talk it out and come to terms, where Paulo hugs Matt and holds him by a campfire.

Later Paulo investigates Matt's crush, Jordan, to see if Jordan is gay. Upon learning that Jordan is not, he tells Matt, and compliments Matt on how hardy he is, being in such a touch situation. Matt ends up having a breakdown, where Paulo talks him down, both of them crying in the process.
