• Daisy & Sandy are friends.

• Kindergarten without Mike: Mike and Lucy are in different kindergarten classes. She fails to make friends in his absence, being shunned by the girls for her rough play and by the boys for being a girl and accepts solitude.

1998

• Mike & Lucy Reunited: Mike and Lucy are reunited in first grade. At first Mike is annoyed, but he and Lucy genuinely become friends and she explains her experience with others to him.

1999

June

• Augustus moves: Augustus used to live closer, but moved. The move must have happened prior to meeting Alejandro & co. He clearly has lived in the area for some time before meeting, knowing which stores have fake cameras, etc.

• Daisy tutors Sandy: The tutoring may have started before 2nd grade, but almost certainly was happening then.

2000-2005: Elementary and Middle School

2000

March

• March 14: Sandy turns 9.

September

• Mike and Sandy Meet: They share a third grade class. She shows him a spot under a tree that she likes. He starts tutoring her and she feeds him fish. Mike is so enamored with Sandy he stops paying attention to Lucy, although she is always hovering in the periphery. Sandy stops paying attention to Daisy. Daisy hated Mike for disrupting her relationship with Sandy.

• September 27: Daisy turns 8.

October

• October 1: Augustus turns 10.

• Lucy toughs it out: As Mike fawns over Sandy, Lucy resolves to not be cry about it.

• Paulo is barked out of the park: Flashback from Off to the Movies. Paulo visits a park and four high-school aged bullies bark him out of the park, resulting in him developing a barking phobia.

• November 7: Lucy turns 8.

2001

March

• March 14: Sandy turns 10.

• April 16: Paulo turns 9.

• Mike & Sandy Kiss: While we don't see this, both Lucy and Daisy claim they kissed in third grade. Sandy later tells Daisy about the kiss and Mike tells Lucy.

July

• Meeting Alejandro: Flashback shown in "Trapped". Augustus steals milk from a convenience store and is noticed by Alejandro, Toby, and Melanie. He accepts Alejandro's invitation to hang out with them.

• Shoplifting haul: Augustus proves his worth to his new friends with the power of crime.

• July 11: Blur Hatches.

August

• Augustus saves his mom: Augustus's mom is passed out drunk in their home, asphyxiating on her own vomit, and Augustus moves her into the rescue position.

• August 10: Mike turns 9: Mike celebrates his 9th birthday with Sandy.

• Lucy finds Yashy's Egg: Lucy finds Yashy's egg during the summer before 4th grade. It's seemingly after Michael's birthday but before Yashy will hatch on September 1st.

• Sandy moves: Sandy leaves before 4th grade starts after spending most of the summer with Michael.

• Lucy supports Mike: After Sandy leaves, Mike mopes under the tree.

January

• Abbey bandages Charlotte: Abbey helps his mom wrap an injury after his father hurt her.

• Abbey discovers the affair: After school, a friend takes Abbey on a shortcut to his house. Abbey notices his father's car and sees Abraham embrace Cynthia.

• April 16: Paulo turns 11.

• Mother's Day: Paulo and David bond over having single parents.

June

• Abraham beats Charlotte: Charlotte is brushing Abbey's hair when he accidently mentions Cynthia. She confronts Abraham and he beats her and leaves. Abbey instructs Molly to bring a note to the neighbors. He runs to Cynthia's, where Abraham is preparing to flee and trying to get a dismayed Cynthia to come with him. When he goes to his car, Abbey blocks him. The police, summoned by Molly and the neighbors, arrive and arrest Abraham, who tells Abbey that he ruined their family.

• Abbey & Molly Move to Roseville: Janet and Kevin are fostering Abbey and Molly and are driving them to Roseville. It's not without bumps.

July

• Mike and Lucy almost drown: Flashback from "Troubled Waters". Mike hits his head and falls into the river during a race against Paulo. Lucy tries to save him despite not knowing how to swim herself. The pair are saved from drowning by Paulo.

• Charlotte dies: Charlotte is scheduled for surgery. She's spoken with Janet, who is fostering Abbey and Molly. She makes the nurse promise that should anything go wrong, Abbey and Molly are not informed. She dies of complications.

• July 25: Abbey turns 11.

August

• August 10: Mike turns 11.

September

• September 1: Yashy turns 2.

• Lucy gets harassed: Starting on the first day of sixth grade, people start harassing Lucy because of her looks. She resolves to fend off creeps with her fists.

• September 27: Daisy turns 11.

October

• October 1: Augustus turns 13.

• Hyper Space Cadets: Paulo, David, and Daisy play Hyper Space Cadets.

November

• Lucy turns 11: Mike fails to surprise Lucy for her birthday.

• Paulo learns to flirt: Flashback from "Flirting with Disaster". Insecure about talking to girls, Paulo watches how a high schooler flirts at the mall and emulates him. He builds his confidence practicing with other girls, hoping his new style will make Lucy like him.

December

• Paulo hits on Lucy: Having had a crush on Lucy since Roseville, Paulo finally feels confident enough flirting to hit on her. However, she's been harassed with unwanted attention since she started 6th grade and reacts extremely negatively.

2004

January

• January 4: Sue turns 12.

March

• Melanie kisses Augustus: Flashback shown in "Trapped". Augustus has put together a new outfit for himself, and Melanie insists he needs a piercing to complete the look. After piercing his eyebrow, she kisses him an takes him to bed. They agree Alejandro cannot find out. A manic Melanie dreams of escaping with a scholarship.

• April 7: Chirpy Hatches: Flashback from Flying Lessons. Yashy catches Chirpy's egg after a snake chases her mom out of a tree. It promptly hatches and Yashy adopts her.

• April 16: Paulo turns 12.

May

• May 5: Molly turns 8.

June

• Mike takes Lucy to a dance: Mike went to a dance in middle school with Lucy as friends.

July

• Finding Blur: On a stormy day walking home from Lucy's, Mike discovers Lily pulling Blur away from a tree that got struck by lighting. He takes them to Lucy's to heal. Blur is an amnesiac and Mike takes him in. Lily decides to stick around.

• July 25: Abbey turns 12.

August

• August 10: Mike turns 12.

September

• September 1: Yashy turns 3.

• September 27: Daisy turns 12.

October

• Abbey vs Bully: When Molly is late being picked up from school, Abbey finds a bully teasing her for her ears. He slams the bully against a fence and demands he leave her alone and return her ribbon. Molly is upset at the violence and compares him to their dad. Abbey is horrified.

• October 1: Augustus turns 14.

November

• Lucy turns 12: Mike fails to surprise Lucy for her birthday.

• Mel's junior year: Augustus and Melanie maintain their relationship in secret, meeting at the college campus.

December

• December 13: Tess turns 15.

• Molly hopes: As Christmas approaches again, Molly and Abbey remain optimistic that they might hear from their mom.

• Mike kisses Lucy: It's Lucy's first kiss.
  
  Mike and Lucy play in the snow. He gets cold and they go into her house, where he calls his mom for a pickup because the weather is bad. Upstairs waiting, Lucy suggests he gets a scarf to keep warm. Mike confesses to "really really lik[ing] her" and kisses her. After a second, Lucy panics and pushes him off. She asks him to go and he promises to wait until she's ready. It's Lucy's first kiss.

2005

January

• January 4: Sue turns 13.

February

• Mike buys a scarf: Mike buys a scarf to match Lucy's eyes.
  
  Lucy is implied to have been shopping with him as she knows how picky he was about the color. She always thought it was supposed to match Sandy.

• David turns 12.

April

• Lucy passes out in PE: With swimming lessons as the new activity in PE, Lucy passes out. Mike catches her before she falls into the water.

• April 7: Chirpy turns 1.

• April 16: Paulo turns 13.

• Milk Spill: Sue wipes up her milk spill with Mike's scarf. Paulo chides her.

May

• May 5: Molly turns 9.

• Science Lab: David wipes chemicals on Mike's scarf during a science lab, resulting in Mike being hospitalized and Lucy finishing the lab by herself.

• Tess goes to Senior prom: She goes as a freshman with a senior.

June

• Chris is born.

July

• Mike comforts Lucy: After their near-drowning, Lucy is anxious near the river. Mike acts as a buffer between her and the water.

• July 25: Abbey turns 13.

August

• August 10: Mike turns 13.

• Melanie is discovered: Alejandro yanks at Melanie's hair, angry that her hairstyle reminds him of her ex. Augustus sits by, not intervening.
  
  Later, Augustus apologizes for not doing anything and Melanie says it was the right choice as it might make Alejandro suspicious. She kisses him. Toby witnesses this and reports her infidelity to Alejandro. Augustus returns to the apartment to discover Alejandro beating her, demanding to know who she was with. Augustus tries to pull him off her, and Melanie swipes his face, scaring him to protect him from scrutiny. He passes out and learns that Toby has dropped Melanie off at the hospital. He visits her there and she tells him the incident has made her grandmother decide to take her in. She'll be safe, but they won't be able to see each other again.
  
  Afterwards, Toby reveals he knows it was Augustus kissing Melanie. He uses this to blackmail Augustus, forcing him to be at his beck and call, lest he tell Alejandro of his involvement.
  
  Augustus is 14 or 15 depending on exactly when this falls.

2006

January

• January 4: Sue turns 14.

• Gaming Rivalry: Mike and Lucy play video games.

• January 17: Jordan turns 15.

February

• Merry Snow Day: It isn't a snow day, but Lucy wishes it was. David considers going on strike.

• David turns 13.

• Unfit for Education: Yashy wants equality. The science fair happens. Mike thinks of Lucy.

March

• March 14: Sandy turns 15.

• The Burden of Parenthood: Mike and Daisy are paired to take care of a baby doll for health class, as are Lucy and Paulo. They switch partners.

April

• April 7: Chirpy turns 2.

• Flying Lessons: Chirpy wants Yashy to fly.

• Prom Preparation: Daisy helps prepare the Spring Dance. Girls flirt with Mike.

• April 16: Paulo turns 14.

• Helping Hands: Paulo and Daisy rescue a bird and bring it to Lucy's to recover.

• Show and Tell: Yashy takes advantage of Lucy's bad ear. The kids discuss cat breeds.

• Gone Fishing: A field trip to the aquarium. Mike reassures Lucy. Daisy is jealous. Paulo antagonizes a sea lion.

May

• Pep Rally: Daisy is a cheerleader for the pep rally. The volume hurts Mike, who tries to escape.

• May 5: Molly turns 10.

• Off to the Movies: Mike and Lucy leave Yashy at home and go to the movies, where they encounter Paulo, David, and Daisy. They watch a film together. Paulo confesses how he got a barking phobia and Daisy encourages his vulnerability. Mike and Lucy discuss the ending of the movie and belated love confessions.

• Puppy Love: Mike receives love letters in his locker from his many admirers.

• Confrontation
  • Getting Mugged: Tensions run high as Mike, Lucy, Daisy, Paulo, and Sue get lost after a trip to a museum to research a project for school and end up in a bad area. They they visit a bar, one of the only open establishments given the hour, so Sue can call her mom for a pickup. Mike takes up Alejandro's wager that he can't eat a bowl of liquor candy in under a minute. Although he succeeds, he gets drunk from the candy and runs down an alleyway following music until he finds its source, a radio, and smashes it. He and his friends are cornered by Alejandro and Toby, who try to mug them.
    
    A defiant Paulo is incapacitated by Toby's barking. Sue tries to reason with Alejandro and gets batted around. Mike intervenes but struggles to fight in his drunken state. Lucy incapacitates Toby and Alejandro's undivided attention falls on her. He makes threatening sexual advances and she smashes his jaw together, damaging his teeth. She thinks she's won and goes to check on Mike when he grabs her. The situation becomes increasingly dire, and for a horrible moment it seems no one will help her before Mike rejoins the fray. Together they rout Alejandro.
    
    Sue's mother picks up the kids, who lie and say their injuries came from play-fighting. Daisy talks to Paulo about being frozen through the whole fight.
  • Day After: The kids give their papers at school and Daisy apologizes to Mike for her behavior the previous day. After school, Mike and Lucy talk. He appreciates how she protected him and promises to always look out for her too. She kisses him.

• Aftermath: Mike can't stop thinking about Lucy's kiss.

June

• Field Day: It's field day! Stacy admires David. Mike and Lucy get competitive. Stacy suffers. Mike breaks a leg. And DAVID wins the race!

• Roger breaks Aaron's arm: Roger breaks Aaron's arm. Rachel and Jess go to the hospital.

• Jess approaches Craig: Jess angles to get leverage on Roger, but is too uncomfortable to go through with her plan.

• Tess ruins Jess's reputation: Craig told Tess and Roger about Jess approaching her, calling her a kid out of her depth, but Tess doesn't take kindly and spreads rumors about Jess and Craig, humiliating her and ruining Jess's reputation. She slams Jess into a locker and tells her she's untouchable with Roger backing her.
  
  Rachel pretends not to hear any of the rumors.

• Unfulfilled Fantasy: Lucy discovers Mike and Sandy have been exchanging letters for years. Mike and Lily discuss his history with Sandy and his feelings about her and Lucy.

• 8th Grade Prom: The spring dance is finally here! David dances with Flower Girl. Paulo feels up girls. Daisy misses Mike.
  
  Mike goes to the tree to contemplate his relationship with Lucy and Sandy. Lucy is at home, skipping prom when Mike show up at her door to apologizes for how he treated her in third grade.

• Monday After Prom: The kids discuss prom.

• Last Day of Middle School: David floods the halls with chocolate ice cream. Placements for courses are handed out. Teachers bid farewell. Daisy gets teary.

• Chris turns 1.

July

• Sue moves: Sue's address changed.

• July 25: Abbey turns 14.

August

• Sue's Canada trip: Sue goes to Canada on a work trip with her father over the summer.

• Summer Reading: Mike does his summer reading and thinks of Sandy. Lucy, Daisy, Paulo, and David show up.

• August 10: Mike turns 14: Lobsters and friends are involved.

• Blurry Memories: Mike gets ready for honors English. The pets squabble.

September

• September 1: Yashy's Birthday — Yashy turns 5: Yashy angsts over being forgotten due to having a September birthday as school is approaching, but she isn't.

• Hot Pursuit: Mike sees Sandy on TV at a parade and dashes off to Marachino to try to find her, despite Lily's counsel. Lucy tags along, not knowing the goal. After getting lost around the city yet always finding themselves at the same dock, they finally find the parade but can't find Sandy. Defeated, they return home, only for Mike to learn that she stopped by his house to see him and left him a bonsai tree modeled after the tree they sat under in childhood. While sad about the missed opportunity, the gift affirms to him that she remembers what they had.

• Lucy comforts Mike: Mike sneaks into Lucy's house at night and she comforts him over his failure to find Sandy.
  
  Implied to occur the same night as "Hot Pursuit".

• Enter High School: New classes, new teachers, new friends! Mike, Lucy, David, Paulo, Daisy, and Sue conveniently have homeroom together, alongside Tess.

• A Difficult Choice: Despite Mike's insistence that he's single, Mike's infatuation with Sandy becomes evident to his friends. Paulo labels him a cheater for how he's been interacting with Sandy and Lucy at the same time. A mob of girls forms against him and his scarf is sullied.

• A New Leaf — Calling Sandy: Mike reads through Sandy's old letters and finds her phone number again. He calls and they talk for hours and agree to consier themselves boyfriend and girlfriend.

• Mike's scarf is ruined: The mob calling Mike a cheater eggs him, ruining his scarf.

• A New Leaf — At School: Mike is on cloud nine at school despite arriving late. He reveals that he and Sandy are now officially dating.

• Wardrobe Malfunction: Mike doesn't have is scarf. It turns out everyone has been wiping things on it for years.

• Daisy's Birthday — Daisy turns 14: Daisy receives an unwelcome gift from her friends.

October

• October 1: Augustus turns 16.

• Humble Approach: Daisy is feeling down and falling down. Abbey lifts her up. Paulo questions Abbey's name. Abbey asks Lucy if she's insecure (it doesn't go well).

• Call with Sandy: Lucy smacked Mike in the shin. On the phone, he tells Sandy about it and sh'es upset.

• Left Behind: Tess gets Mike to tell her about Lucy and gifts him a scarf because he's cold.

• Flirting with Disaster: Tess and Abbey doubt Lucy's support of Mike and Sandy's relationship and try to push her and Mike towards each other. Mike is ruffled, David assists with a truth or dare setup, and after whispering something, Lucy claims her first crush was on Paulo.

November

• Lucy's Birthday — Lucy turns 14: Mike has given up at surprising Lucy for her birthday. Paulo gives it a shot and sets up balloons in the park. Mike gives Lucy a gift riffing on her 5th grade crush on Paulo.

December

• December 11: Amaya turns 14.

• December 13: Tess turns 17.

• Before break: Mike dreams of Sandy. Tess invites people to her Christmas party.

• December 20: Lily's birthday: No one knows how old his hedgehog is.

• Feline Festivities — Christmas Party: Lily convinces Lucy to go to the party despite her disinclination, encouraging her to make sure Mike isn't alone and to watch out for Chirpy. Chirpy is sad about her mother. Paulo has rigged his hat with mistletoe, but he backs off from a flustered Daisy. Mike thinks of Sandy and upsets Chirpy. Lucy doesn't want to be perceived singing. Katie drinks thorns. Tess gives Paulo a kiss for good behavior. Mike arrives home to find a gift from Sandy has been delivered.

2007

January

• January 4: Sue turns 15.

• Midterm Time — Preparing: Mike makes the honor roll. Daisy helps Tess study.
  
  Occurs over multiple school days but I thought it best to just do one entry. Midterms are described as being "next week".

• January 17: Jordan turns 16.

• Midterm Time — Test Day: Tess excels at her midterms. Daisy realizes she was so focused on helping Tess, she didn't study enough for her own exams. David enrages his math teacher.

• Tread Carefully: Daisy, Paulo, and David have some fun at a crosswalk.

• Troubled Waters — At School: The new semester has begun, and Lucy is excused from gym class because they are doing a unit on swimming. She thinks about how she and Mike almost drowned.
  
  After the period, she thanks Paulo for saving them, which she'd never done at the time.
  
  Mike speaks to Paulo because he never realized he was the one to save them.

• Mike's swim record: Motivated by Paulo's claim of being a better swimmer and climber than him, Mike puts his all into swimming and sets a new school record.

• Carry On: After Mike sets a new swimming record, Daisy admires his athleticism. Augustus approaches her and complements her, claiming he'd seen her doing cheerleading at his little brother's soccer games. While she's unnerved at being approached by someone two grades older than her, he calls her cute and beautiful despite her insecurities about her curls.
  
  Katie talks to Mike about why Lucy got excused from swimming. She joins Lucy in being excused, claiming to have her period.
  
  At lunch, Daisy tries to ask Paulo about whether or not she's attractive by guys, but Paulo is distracted by Tess approaching. Daisy feels teased, and Augustus sits next to her and compliments her. Tess is wary, but says nothing.
  
  Katie splashes Lucy with bottled water.
  
  After school, Lucy walks to the river, trying to overcome her hydrophobia, but doesn't make it to the water before turning back. Augustus is stalking her.

February

• Follow Me: During lunch, Lucy tries to hide Mike's relationship with Sandy from Yashy by starting a food fight.
  
  Daisy is down about Mike's relationship status and Augustus reminds her other guys exist, drawing distrust from Abbey and Tess. When she accuses him of having an agenda, he counters with how she hasn't been straightforward with the freshmen. Paulo gets defensive of her and Augustus leaves.
  
  Daisy isn't sure what to make of Augustus's interest in her, but is exhausted by Paulo's flirting with Tess. Abbey is concerned about her absence, while Paulo dismisses it.

• February 11: Rachel turns 16.

March

• Bonding — Daisy at lunch: As Daisy spends more lunch periods with Augustus, Abbey and Tess worry.
  
  Augustus tells Daisy about what Tess and Roger were like the previous year. Daisy expresses how she feels more alienated from her friends since Tess joined the friend group, and Augustus asks if she's jealous of Tess. He tells her he could make her feel desirable, and they almost kiss before Daisy dashes off because she still has feelings for Mike.

• March 14: Sandy turns 16.

• March 15: Jess turns 16.

• Under Pressure: David retells the story of his birthday over and over. Lucy tries to keep Mike and Sandy's relationship from Yashy. Augustus takes notes.
  
  During swimming, girls admire Mike. He approaches Daisy and tells her she's been missed at the table.
  
  Michael, Paulo, and David are tasked with racing. Daisy wishes for attention, and absentmindedly swims into a wall and she gets it when Mike pulls her up. She flirts with a flustered Mike, and Paulo accuses Mike of being a cheater.
  
  After she goes to the nurse's office, Abbey catches up with Daisy, worried about her and warning her that Augustus may not have her best interests in mind. She doesn't take it well.
  
  Paulo asks Tess to junior prom, and she stipulates that they go just as friends. Tess is cornered by someone she bullied last year with Roger, and Abbey, who was in the junior hall looking for Augustus, punches him.
  
  Afterwards, Tess tells Abbey about her past with Roger, and Abbey is adamant that she didn't deserve to be cornered and afraid. He encourages her to tell their friends, and she calls Paulo.

• Crash and Burn — Computer Virus: Lucy downloads malware and tries to keep X-rated images from Yashy and Chirpy.
  
  Occures over two consecutive days.

April

• Out of the Frame: Sue creates a club to protest the narrative focus on the main characters. Alec McCain points out that this is an ineffectual strategy, and Stacy proposes a mob to voice their grievances. They yell at Lucy and Sue apologizes to her. Lucy points out that no one is stopping her from sitting at their table, which Sue does, only to be alarmed by the sheer level of drama that comes with being closer to the spotlight.

• A Different Side
  • Lunch & Gym: The pep rally is today! Paulo, Lucy, and David torment Mike with volume.
    
    Paulo is simmering about how Tess is being bullied, and the bullying becomes all the more apparent during a game of kickball. The rest of the friends start catching on that Tess is being bullied, although they don't know why. Abbey and Paulo both aren't happy.
    
    Daisy overhears Jess and Rachel badmouthing Tess.
  • The Pep Rally: Abbey is late to the pep rally because he was "talking to someone" and appears mildly scuffed; it later appears he roughed up Jay, one of the kickball bullies.
    
    Lucy sings beautifully but gets self-conscious. Daisy accidentally shows her underwear when she falls during the cheerleading routine, but leans into it as a way of being perceived as more sexual.
    
    After teacher-student games, Tess is shoved into the spotlight and jeered at by her peers. Paulo says she's made up for her past behavior, while Daisy follows Jess and Rachel's animosity, yelling at him to shut up while asking about why people who don't have anything to make up for don't get better treatment.
    
    After the rally, Tess tells Mike and Lucy what she was like last year. Lucy's opinion of her has fallen, but they don't reject her.
    
    Jay, one of the kickball bullies, apologizes to Tess, evidently after Abbey roughed him up.
    
    Abbey talks to Paulo about how Daisy is drifting away.
    
    Daisy thinks her friends won't want to talk to her after what she said about Tess, but gets invited to go to the mall with Katie, Rachel, and Jess.

• Chirpy turns 3: She thought everyone forgot her birthday, but has a shared birthday party with Paulo later.

• Birthday Double-Team — Paulo & Chirpy: Lucy and Sue bake Paulo a cake. David mixes up Paulo and Chirpy's presents, to disastrous results.

May

• Call with Sandy: Mike is hoarse: Mike's voice is hoarse on the phone because he and Lucy were screaming at each other. Sandy asks if he loves Lucy, and he denies it. She says a real friend would never treat him like that.

• May 5: Molly turns 11.

June

• Rising Temperature
  • School & Abbey's house: Paulo and Tess are excited about Junior Prom. Paulo's forgotten he has an essay due tomorrow and convinces Abbey to help him with it.
    
    Daisy is shunned by Katie, who doesn't think she's popular enough to hang out with. This results in her thinking Rachel and Jess also would shun her. Abbey sees the interaction, and offers to spend time with her, having forgotten he's committed to tutor Paulo and Mike. Mike spending time with him hurts Daisy all the more, and she leaves upset.
    
    Abbey, Paulo, and Mike go to Abbey's afterschool, where they meet Janet an Kevin. Mike talks with them about their family. Abbey is frustrated with Paulo, who did not read the books he needs to write about and doesn't contribute to the actual essay writing.
    
    After Mike leaves, Abbey and Mike talk about Paulo, with Abbey describing him as a "worthless imbecile" whom he hopes Tess won't keep entertaining and Mike coming to Paulo's defense, comparing Paulo to Lucy as someone it pays off to know, despite them being initially rough. Abbey gets mad about how Mike doesn't pay more attention to Daisy and the red flags that have been coming up with her. He says Mike is leading Lucy on. The fight continues to escalate until a tearful Molly intercedes. Mike leaves, ashamed, and resolves to check on Daisy.
  • Daisy after school: Daisy goes to the mall alone, feeling unnecessary to her friends. Augustus surprises her there. He encourages her to act like the confident, attractive girl she wants to be to get Mike's attention. He lays out a plan for her.
    
    Lucy spots Augustus and Daisy at the mall, but doesn't speak with either.
    
    Mike catches up to Daisy when she's walking home, apologetic about not paying more attention to her. She convinces him to go with her to the carnival "as friends". Augustus lurks.

• Love My Way — Carnival & Prom: At school, Paulo asks why Mike is going on a date with Daisy. He denies that it's romantic and Daisy is offended by Paulo's criticism. Paulo and Tess are excited for the dance. Lucy tells Abbey she saw Augustus with Daisy at the mall.
  
  Tess and Paulo go to prom. Paulo is down because he overhears people gossiping about Tess. The night doesn't go as he hopes as Tess makes it clear that even though he's one of her best friends, they're going in different directions with her graduating in a year. She doesn't think they should date or wait for each other. They kiss, but it's with the understanding that they won't get together.
  
  Daisy takes Mike to the carnival for a romantic evening on Augustus's advice. She keeps pushing the romantic envelope. When Mike calls her out on it, she suggests Sandy isn't faithful to him. She kisses him and he rejects her.
  
  Upset, she runs off to be alone. Augustus appears to present himself as a romantic alternative. Daisy is distraught by his manipulations and rejects him, but he actively oversteps her boundaries, making her feel unsafe and not taking "no" for an answer.
  
  Abbey intercedes. Augustus goads Abbey with his's father's violence and he becomes distraught. Daisy smacks him for his behavior and realizes his ties to Alejandro. He leaves and she consoles Abbey, who tells her his family's story. Daisy tries to support him and appreciates how he's been looking out for her.

• Moving On — Augustus: Augustus meets with Toby and Alejandro with a list of Mike and Lucy's classes and where they spend time after school.

• June 11: Matt turns 17.

• Moving On — End of School: Finals are over. Daisy and Mike apologize and make up. Class placement is handed out. The friends enjoy one last lunch together. Tess takes one last look at Roger before he graduates.
  
  After school, Abbey and Daisy walk home. He tells her he's decided to see a counselor and she pledges to support him. At home, he starts opening up to Janet about his parents.

• Chris turns 2.

July

• Call with Sandy: Mike's Nosebleed: Mike has a nosebleed, and Lucy's to blame. Sandy does not like Lucy at all.

• Invitation — Mail received: A free trip to the Silvershore Isles, curtosey of Tess? Who would even think to consider turning this down? Only Mike, Lucy, Abbey, and Daisy.
  
  Tess solves some of this problem with kidnapping.

• Sandy goes to Europe: Sandy is in Europe for business from shortly after "Invitation" through the end of the summer. What bad timing for Mike!

• Invitation — Departure: The plane is loaded up. Before taking off, Abbey's friends surprise him with early birthday gifts.
  
  There's an additional surprise: Daisy isn't going and is staying home to support Abbey. McCain takes the empty spot instead.

• Arrival — Flight & hotel: The flight into the Silvershore Islands and a first night not as quiet as might be hoped.

• Arrival — First full day: The first full day! After breakfast, the kids go to the beach. David doesn't wear trunks. Paulo hits on girls and gets beaned with a volleyball from Tess. Lucy saves Yashy from a big wave and faints. Zach carries her out of the surf and they all get lunch together. Lucy pressures Mike to keep his relationship with Sandy from Yashy.

• Abbey turns 15.

• Enjoying Vacation: Boat rides! Climbing! Surfing! Dancing Games! What a great vacation.

• Daisy and Abbey Kiss: Daisy took Abbey to his Abbey's first therapy as a show of support for him.
  
  Afterwards, they go for a picnic and run into Jess and Rachel, who clarify that they never liked Katie. They ask if Abbey is the crush they've heard about, flustering Daisy and Abbey. It leads to Abbey admitting his feelings towards her. While she still has feelings for Mike, she's struck.

• Search and Rescue: When Mike goes missing, Lucy’s dependency problem is stripped bare.

• Intervention: Mike barely tries to comfort Lucy. When Mike catches Zach snooping, Zachary asks him about it. Mike tells him that Lucy doesn't love him, she needs him.
  
  In truth or dare, Sue asks Tess who she wishes took her virginity, and she says Paulo. Paulo gets frustrated with Tess not wanting him to flirt with others when they're not dating and runs back to the hotel. David pursues him talks about other girls Paulo could pursue instead of Tess. He hits a nerve when he gets to Daisy.
  
  Later, Paulo and Mike discuss the rough day they've had. Paulo goes to take a walk and runs into Tess.

• Return — Night: Zach sees Lucy outside and talks to her about her relationship with Mike. He tells her the relationship isn't as secure as she thinks and that he considers her a chore. He encourages to act kinder to him, but also to look beyond him to the other friends who clearly care about her so her "obsession" doesn't wind up hurting her.
  
  When he goes back to the hotel, she walks in on Tess and Paulo getting frisky. She moves to Mike and Paulo's room and tells Mike that she needs to sleep there.
  
  She curls up with Mike on the floor after he's asleep, but gets up before he wakes.

• Return — Going home: The kids leave the hotel to head home, with Zach an Catherine wishing them well.
  
  Catherine and Zach have a conversation about their relationship.
  
  On the plane, Paulo admits to David that after all the talk about Daisy, he felt weird and didn't wind up having sex with Tess. David tells him Daisy awaits him at home. They land and are greeted by Daisy and Abbey, who have just become a couple.

• New Beginnings: Daisy tells Lucy about how she and Abbey got together as Lucy couldn't hear her well at the airport when she was telling everyone else. While Daisy seems very happy, Lucy is less supportive than she might like, calling Abbey "about as close to a Mike as you could hope for" and telling her, "Don't use him".
  
  Meanwhile, Molly asks Abbey if he and Daisy are getting married.

August

• Pick Me Up: Lucy seeks for Mike to tell him her feelings. She finds him reading outside and yells at him to cover her own nervousness, sparking an immediate fight. Mike expresses her frustration with her, saying he's always delt with her moods and supported her when things got bad, only to get berated and pestered. He says he won't tolerate this forever and asks to be left alone. He walks off.
  
  Lucy tries to convince herself she doesn't need him, but is upset. Paulo walks by and does a mix of trying to be supportive and trying to hit on her, which at least snaps her mood out of sad and into angry. He walk her home and asks if she had another fight with Mike. She opens up about what just happened, and Paulo takes her side. He gives her advice to apologize to him.
  
  Mike appears at an inopportune time, and Lucy and Mike both apologize to one another and they go play video games together.

• August 14: Jasmine turns 14.

• Turning Tides: In a water gun fight, Paulo severely misunderstood how Lucy's hydrophobia works.

September

• September 1: Yashy turns 6.

• First day of Sophomore Year
  • Wonderland — Lucy's dream: Lucy awakes on the morning of the first day of school from a dream about Mike in Sandy, in which she takes a leap of faith into the water trusting Mike, who catches her, only for him to be replaced by Sandy, who drowns her, saying "Please do not be sinful". It's the third time this week she's had the dream.
  • A Distance Apart — Before School: The school year is here.
  • A Distance Apart — School & Confession: The first day of school. Afterwards, Lucy confesses.

• Unrequited — Friends find out: Mike and Lucy go about the next day of school. Their friends pick up that something is wrong. Daisy declares it's time for "girl talk" and goes outside with Lucy, Sue, and Tess. Lucy doesn't want to open up, but eventually spits out that she confessed her love to Mike and was rejected.
  
  The girls storm back in, outraged, but Mike maintains his position and points out he's in a relationship with Sandy. Sue tries to get her to think of the positives and buys Lucy a slushie and tells her Mike isn't her only friend.

• Another Shoulder: After school, Abbey and Daisy try to navigate the fallout between Mike and Lucy. Daisy pushes them together, but it doesn't improve things. Lucy goes off and Mike will not chase her despite Daisy's urgings, leading her to call him a jerk.
  
  Lucy goes to Paulo's house.

• September 27: Daisy turns 15.

October

• October 1: Augustus turns 17.

• Paulo starts driving lessons: Paulo's dad starts teaching him how to drive.

• October 15: Casting Call: Sue finishes the manuscript for her play. She encourages all her friends to try out as secretly she wrote the play as a mechanism to save Mike and Lucy's friendship. Mike gives a less-than stellar audition, but she casts him as the lead. As auditions wind down, Sue becomes panicked as Lucy hasn't shown up. She runs through the halls and finds her making faces at Paulo in detention. She drags her onstage and casts her despite her not really auditioning. Jessica doubts her casting choices.

• Back and Forth
  • Paulo & Jess: David notices Paulo and Lucy's bantering and asks Paulo if he and Lucy are a couple. When he reveals they made out but he stopped it from going further, David questions his masculinity.
    
    Feeling insecure, Paulo decides to hook up with someone and hits on Jessica, who is disinterested until he admits to Tess having a romantic attachment to him. She decides to weaponize the reputation Tess gave her against her by sleeping with Paulo. She takes him him to a 21+ club where they get tipsy and hook up in the bathroom, losing their virginities to each other. Afterwards, she makes him feel inexperienced while secretly feeling dirty herself. She suggests he ask Rachel out as she has a crush on her.
  • Paulo & Rachel: Paulo asks Rachel out. Lucy and Tess are both upset with him all day for dating people he doesn't really know while still having unresolved romantic entanglements with them.
    
    Rachel takes him to a drive-through movie theater where they hook up. She suspects he's a virgin and he's embarrassed again. While Rachel sincerely likes Paulo, she also wants to upset Tess.
  • Paulo & Jasmine: David asks Paulo how he is at school and he confesses to feeling badly and inexperienced after his hookups with Rachel and Jessica. David encourages him to date someone younger instead. Lucy seethes quietly at him for his escapades.
    
    With David's urging, he asks out Jasmine when he catches her eye in the hall. They go on a movie date that night, with Amaya helping them get tickets to an R-rated horror movie. They have a good time and he bikes her back home.
    
    Amaya calls Sue about what she saw.
  • Tess & Paulo Confronted: Jess and Rachel tell Tess about sleeping with Paulo. Tess and Lucy chase down Paulo. Lucy confronts him with his date with Jasmine, having learned about it from Sue.
    
    They find him mocking Mike for being the lead in the play, and Mike threatens to not pay for Blasto.
    
    Mike mocks Lucy for her rebound.
    
    Jasmine defuses an escalating situation by hugging Paulo and acting sweet and oblivious despite it being a calculated move. He's appreciative.

• October 19: Madison turns 17.

• Feline Filibuster — Campaigns Start: Paulo helps Jasmine campaign for treasurer. Sue makes her bid for student council secretary.

• To the Top: Sandy wakes up, goes to an audition, landing a job. She talks to Michael on the phone about it and school. Things are not as rosy as the might seem, but talking to Mike makes her happy.
  
  This chapter occurs over several days, but the dates are so disconnected from the rest of the story that I am simply placing them all here.

• Up to Bat: Paulo brings Jasmine water while she practices baseball.

• Mischief Night: It's Halloween! Don't eat poisoned candy, kids.

November

• Play Rehearsal.

• Feline Filibuster — The Debate: Abbey and Sue debate for the position of secretary. Abbey pushes a zero-tolerance policy on bullying that ruffles Paulo's feathers and gets Mike and Lucy thinking. When Abbey gets angry at Sue's description of his policy as fascistic and Paulo yells "hit her" from the audience, he has a meltdown and Daisy takes over campaigning.
  
  Paulo campaigns to get her elected. Jasmine notices his efforts.
  
  The vote is stated to be on November 5th. The debate likely occurs a little earlier, giving Paulo a brief window to campaign for Daisy.

• November 5: Feline Filibuster — The vote: Sue lost the vote to Daisy, who abdicates her position to Abbey. She doesn't realize Paulo campaigned for her.

• Pillow Talk
  • Lucy turns 15: Lucy turns 15. Paulo leaves candy in her locker and Daisy invites the girls to a birthday party she's hosting on Lucy's behalf. As the day goes on, Lucy's dread grows as she realizes Mike might not wish her happy birthday at all despite their tradition of him always trying to surprise her for her birthday. She despondently tears up the party invitation. Augustus approaches her while she's sitting alone outside and she flips him off.
  • The Party: Daisy hosts a birthday party for Lucy. What could go wrong?
    
    There's immediate friction with Rachel and Jess being less-than pleased with Tess's presence. Although Rachel makes the best of it, Jessica considers walking out altogether.
    
    Jasmine appears in tears, having just had a fight with Paulo over her availability to hang out.
    
    Lucy says some nasty things to Jess about her sleeping with Paulo, calling her a slut. They start to physically brawl. Tess admits she's responsible for Jess's reputation.
    
    David is inexplicably under the bed.
    
    When lights are out and people are sleeping, Lucy asks Daisy about Augustus.
  • Back at School: Lucy approaches Augustus, asking if he was hitting on her earlier. He says no and the two clash, picking at each other's insecurities.
    
    Paulo talks to Jess, having heard from Jasmine about some things discussed at the sleepover.

• Picking up trash: Abbey's policies make Paulo pick up garbage during lunch. Jasmine chats with him and reveals she's used her position as treasurer to cause Abbey a few troubles of his own.

• November 26: Call Waiting: Mike shows off his new phone and the better connection it will give him to Sandy. David also reveals his new phone.
  
  Unnoticed by her friends, Lucy leaves the table and goes to needle Augustus. He doesn't explain himself to her, but he does talk about what he likes about Daisy and needles her back.
  
  Paulo attempts to convince Mike to sell the phone for Blasto. Mike sees Lucy talking to Augustus in the hallway and considers it "pathetic".
  
  David and Paulo send Mike some inappropriate texts.

• On the Sidelines: Sue follows up with Lucy about rehearsals this afternoon. Lucy tries to join a conversation with Mike and Tess and Mike pretends she isn't there. Discouraged, Lucy sits in the grass and Augustus sits next to her.

• Carry Me
  • Not connecting: Paulo and David talk about his relationship with Jasmine, but he can't quite manage to compete with her busy schedule.
  • Day 2: Frustration: When Paulo can't spend time with Jasmine the next day, he vents his frustrations to David and compares how much he sees Jasmine with how much he sees other girls. He decides if they can't spend time together tomorrow, they should break up.
  • Paulo carries Lucy: Paulo finds Lucy burning up with a fever on the way to school. She's determined to go for play rehearsal. Paulo points out she could stay home and go after school. She boards a bus to try to go to the hospital, and he grabs onto the back of it. When it stops, he climbs aboard. Lucy throws up on him and they both get kicked off the bus. Paulo washes up at a beach shower.
    
    They're far from Roseville. Paulo puts Lucy in a shopping cart and walks her back until they bust it going down a hill, at which point he goes back to physically carrying her. She admits she's embarrassed to practice for the play, but sings for him anyways and he's moved. He thinks again about his relationship with Jasmine and what isn't working when he stumbles upon Jasmine herself. The school day has ended and she's gotten her violin lessons canceled so she has more free time.
    
    David appears and runs Lucy the rest of the way to rehearsal. Mike gives her some meds and she's deliriously relieved that he's talking to her, although he isn't amused.
    
    Jasmine and Paulo spend the rest of the day together, hoping for more to come.

December

• Dinner Time: Lucy's mom makes dinner. Lucy has shut her pets out of her room but comes down for dinner. When Jordan and her mom bring up Mike, Lucy deflects attention to how Jordan tries to curry favor so he can go out late with Tiff on Friday. When the conversation circles back around to how nice Mike is, with Blur also enters the home, talking about the baby-talk Mike says to Sandy, Lucy excuses herself. Lucy's mom worries.

• On Our Own: Lucy tries to follow Augustus home after school. He doesn't let her.

• Madison transfers: Madison transfers to Roseville High as a sophomore. It likely occurred prior to the play, which she attended.

• Lucy follows Augustus: Lucy gets on Augustus's bus and follows him home. She discovers how far away he lives and what a bad neighborhood it's in. She starts wondering how she'll get home. She watches as Augustus steals dinner from a convenience store. They arrive at his house, where she sees his mother passed out on the couch. He brings her to his room, which is completely bare with just an exposed mattress and blanket on the floor.
  
  She understands that he is going to see Alejandro.
  
  That night, she has a nightmare about the events of Confrontation, in which Daisy, Paulo, and Sue. complain about her before Mike leaves her with Alejandro. She wakes hyperventilating and sobbing, with Augustus having no idea ho.

• Augustus opens up: Augustus tells Lucy about his history with Alejandro, Melanie, and Toby. She tells him he'll find a way out and that he's a survivor. She also tells him to fix his haircut.

• December 11: Amaya turns 15.

• Fade Away — Tess turns 18: Tess reflects on her time and transformation throughout high school. Her friends surprise her at lunch with birthday gifts. Lucy is not at the table of well-wishers.
  
  Did you know December happens on Tess's birthday? It does! Same day!

• December — Mike & Lucy Fall Out: Ahead of winter break, there's one group project for history: an essay with assigned partners. Mike and Lucy are paired up after he has an outburst, much to his displeasure. They go to the library to crank it out, where they run into Augustus. While Mike gets books, Lucy asks him about how he deals with rejection and confesses that she is suicidal. Augustus is not particularly sympathetic and points out things she should be grateful for, such as safety and loving parents. He tells her that he's made his peace with Daisy not being interested in him and that Daisy's happiness keeps him going, even if he can't be a part of it.
  
  Mike and Lucy return to Mike's house to work on the essay, and Lucy initiates some gaming. They are genuinely having fun with each other and enjoying each other's company until Mike gets a text from Sandy letting him know she'll be in the area next week. He's elated by the news, but his mood towards Lucy instantly sours.
  
  He reveals that his conversations with Sandy made him realize that Lucy does not treat him well all of the time. He tells her his intentions to leave the table after the play in January. He outlines his expectation for all of his friends to follow him, leaving Lucy alone. He declares he hates her, calls her a parasite and suggests that no one could love her for who she is.
  
  Mike runs out to tell his mom the good news and Lucy throws up. She texts Sandy from Mike's phone saying she'll leave him alone. She takes the garbage liner and leaves Mike's brushing off his concerns about the essay by saying she'll do the work and leave it in his locker. Lucy runs home crying, thinking about Augustus's words about being happy for someone else's happiness.

• Adult Supervision: Mike's parents leave him and Haley to babysit Chris when they go out for the evening. After Haley leaves to meet her friends, Mike struggles, having never babysat before.

• At Loose Ends: Needing to know: Abbey thinks the gifts Molly is making for their mother may be unhealthy and doubts Charlotte will ever return. Daisy calls, excited about the invitation to Tess's party she recieved in the mail, but Abbey is down disinclined to attend. He feels he needs to find out what happened to his mother. Janet promises to research and figure out what happens, and has him call Daisy back to say he will go after all.

• At Loose Ends — Tess's party: Despite still having his parents on the mind, Abbey and Daisy go to the party.
  
  Jasmine and Paulo pelt Abbey with snowballs. Daisy is down about Sandy not inviting her to the fashion show. David dances with Amaya. Tess gets drunk. Lucy doesn't show.
  
  Abbey leaves early after Janet finds out what happened to his mother.

• December 21: At Loose Ends — Visiting Charlotte: Janet drives Abbey to visit his mother's grave. Daisy comes as moral support. They leave Molly's presents at the grave. At home, Abbey thinks about how Charlotte's wish of them being able to have a normal life came true.

• December 21: Piece of Cake: Paulo brings Lucy a piece of cake after she didn't make an appearance to Tess's party. He worries about his romantic feelings towards her and his relationship with Jasmine. He slips into the house and sees her sitting despondently in the dark before he's ushered out by Jordan.
  
  It troubles him as he and Jasmine make a snowman. He circles back to Lucy's house and is told off by Jordan.
  
  Jasmine lets him know she won't be around for a week. Lucy calls to thank him for the cake.

• December 21: Just Beautiful: Mike sees Sandy's fashion show. The two get the chance to talk for a little bit. Sandy reveals that Lucy texted her and encourages Mike to make up with her as she seems sorry and like she won't mistreat him. Sandy gifts him a blue scarf "so they can keep matching" and takes his striped scarf.
  
  At home, Mike walks to Lucy's house. Lucy, who was outside with her pets, hides from him. Lily tells Mike to leave and he does. Yashy doesn't understand why Mike had to go, believing he'd be the cure for Lucy's blues, an Lucy yells at her, revealing that Mike has a girlfriend, leaving a distraught Yashy to be comforted by Lily and Chirpy.

• Buddy System — Mike's phone bill: Mike and Paulo have been hanging out for the past week while Jasmine has been at her aunt's. Paulo talked to Jasmine too much on Mike's cell and Mike gets in trouble for the phone bill.

• December 31: Ten Seconds to Midnight
  • Augustus & Lucy: Augustus leaves home, where his parents have drunk themselves into a stupor to walk around.
    
    Lucy's family convenes to discuss what's best for her and agree she shouldn't attend Roseville High anymore. Lucy walks in on the conversation and feels disempowered by other people deciding what should happen to her.
    
    She leaves home and goes up to the rooftop of a building. Augustus spots her on the roof and runs up, afraid she's going to jump. She laughs off his concern and asks what he cares. He claims not to care but says he knows people who do. She asks why.
    
    He waits a the foot of the building for her.
  • Tess's New Year's Party: Abbey and Kevin discuss his attending the party.
    
    Tess is pleased that Rachel and Jess showed up, although she doesn't quite pick up that Jess is hoping to see Lucy.
    
    Mike's friends marvel at his blue scarf.
    
    Tess and Paulo have a conversation about his relationship with Jasmine, and he admits that he's really in love with someone else and that he knows what he has to do.
    
    Mike recieves a New Year's kiss text from Sandy.
    
    Jasmine arrives and she and Paulo both agree that it's best for them to break up. While it's a relief that they're in agreement, Jasmine is hurt because she realizes Paulo wants to break up because there's someone else. The countdown begins, and at midnight they kiss before going their separate ways.
    
    Paulo looks out the window, sad that Lucy did not show up.

2008

January

• January 4: Sue turns 16.

• Sue's Play: Sue's play is finally performed.
  
  Paulo slips backstage to find Lucy. Sue begrudgingly directs him to her dressing room. He starts trying to explain his concern for her given her absence, how glad he is to see her and how much he likes her, but Lucy interrupts him asking to make out. They proceed to hook up in the dressing room, with Paulo leaving just as Mike stops by to read some lines.
  
  Paulo returns to his seat, which Daisy kindly saved for him next to Jasmine, not knowing they broke up. Jasmine knows he's been to see Lucy and goes to sit elsewere.
  
  The show goes on as planned. The script casts Mike and Lucy's characters as estranged siblings, tasking Mike with Lucy's rescue. As they perform, Mike thinks of Lucy asking if he'd ever marry her when they were small children.
  
  After the show Mike talks to Lucy about potentially trying to start over. The show goes off without a hitch. Rachel, Jasmine, David, Abbey, Paulo, Daisy, Madison, and a lot of the track team attends.
  
  After the play, a producer tries to recruit Lucy to for a music career. She turns him down.

• Lucy's suicide attempt: After the play, Lucy jumps off a roof. Augustus finds her and calls 911. She's afraid of who he's calling; it's implied she thinks it's Alejandro.

• Breaking Up: At school, the kids discuss the play and Lucy turning down the producer. Miss Amalu announces Lucy will no longer be attending Roseville High.
  
  After school, Sue, Mike, Paulo, David, Daisy and Abbey go to Lucy's house to check on her. Jordan slams the door in their faces. Paulo climbs up to Lucy's bedroom and discovers it is totally empty, having been cleared out. A distraught Paulo yells at Daisy.
  
  Jordan walks down his street and Mike follows him. He says it's all Mike's fault and breaks down in tears, saying he doesn't want to lose his little sister.
  
  The penny drops for Mike and he takes a bus to the hospital, where he sees Lucy's mom and Sam talking to the emergency room receptionist. Lily tells him he shouldn't be here and that Lucy will be out in about a week. Yashy bids Mike farewell.
  
  Mike leaves and wrestles with his guilt, remembering Lucy and what their friendship was. He breaks down in tears outside the hospital.
  
  He goes to the tree he sits under, where Paulo finds him and punches him. Paulo breaks down crying, saying he was going to confess his love to her and now he can't. Mike supports him.

• Leaving Home: Blur learns that Yashy, Lily, and Chirpy are leaving and tells Mike he can't deal without them.
  
  Mike sits under the tree. Paulo finds him and punches him and then breaks down, despairing that he never got the chance to tell Lucy he loved her. Mike comforts him.
  
  Everyone struggles with Lucy's departure their own way.
  
  Walking home, Paulo runs into Rachel and winds up finding comfort in her bed. Abbey and Daisy watch a movie together. Sue cries and considers her play script. David has consolation cake. Lucy's family cries. Augustus sits alone on the roof.
  
  Mike returns home to discover Blur has left and talks with Sandy about that, not letting on that anything else might be wrong.

• Study Buddy: Sue grills Mike on if he had anything to do with Lucy leaving, and he confesses to having been "reckless". Tess grills him on what happened to the scarf she gave him.
  
  Rachel crawls into Paulo's lap to tutor him in math, and Jasmine walks in. She considers leaving, but Sue and Mike do their best to diffuse the tension and get her to stay.
  
  After the party, Paulo talks to Jasmine, who says she really liked him, but has realized he's really immature and is glad they broke up.

• Safe Boundaries — End of Midterms: Midterms happen. Abbey and Daisy are triumphant while Paulo is suffering.
  
  On their way to Abbey's after school, Tess makes some innuendos to Abbey and Daisy. At Abbey's they make out until Abbey pulls back. Abbey and Daisy consider the trajectory of their relationship and decide it would be good to get protection. A very awkward conversation with Janet occurs.

• January 17: Jordan turns 17.

• Lucy gets out of the hospital: Lucy was expected to be hospitalized for a week in "Breaking up". She presumably proceeds to move in with her aunt.

• Safe Boundaries — Getting Protection: At school the next day, Daisy anticipates getting condoms. She asks Paulo about losing his virginity and where she can get protection. He doesn't love the whole conversation.
  
  After school, Abbey and Daisy walk to the pharmacy, where they split up. Daisy picks up the condoms an runs into Augustus, who awkwardly goes elsewhere after un-stealing something, as well as Mike.
  
  At Daisy's house, she and Abbey can't agree on who will keep the box and they decide they don't need them after all. Abbey leaves them at Paulo's doorstep.

• Critical Hit — The Art Museum: At the art museum, Sue is frustrated with Paulo and David's childish antics and tries to police their behavior. However, she's struggling to connect to and understand any of the art herself.
  
  When everyone else pays to go to a gated exhibit, Paulo reluctantly does as well, feeling insecure as he overhears Sue and Mike talking about him bringing David's grades down.
  
  Upstairs, he is unimpressed with the offerings and he and Sue fight, with her saying she came upstairs to get away from him, him insulting her play, her saying Lucy couldn't keep his attention. Neither can relate to the art around them, and both feel empty.

February

• Happy Hour
  • Rachel turns 17: Rachel appears in school with birthday balloons and invites Paulo and whomever he'd like to invite to her party on Saturday.
    
    Daisy considers what to wear with Abbey. David proposes to Paulo making it celebrate his birthday as well.
  • Rachel's Party.

• Jasmine's rose drive: As treasurer, Jasmine is in charge of a Valentine's Day rose drive. Incredibly, this caused no drama for the main cast.

• February 22: David turns 15.

• March 14: Sandy turns 17.

• March 15: Jess turns 17.

• Take Heart and Love Note
  • Abbey & Daisy Breakup: David proposes a night at the movies. Only Daisy is particularly enthused.
    
    Paulo gets jealous an insecure about Rachel an Matt's relationship and talks about it with Mike and David.
    
    Walking home, Abbey talks to Daisy about Rachel's party and her feelings for Mike. It becomes clear that while she really likes Abbey, she doesn't love him. They break up.
    
    David and Paulo do go the movies, and afterwards they encounter Daisy, who's bought ice cream after her break-up. Paulo tries to make her feel better and suggests ways to patch things up with Abbey. Daisy latches on the notion of helping Paulo win back Rachel from Matt.
  • Paulo's plan: Paulo convinces Jasmine to use her position as treasurer to do a fundraiser selling flowers to help patch up Abbey and Daisy's relationship.
  • Love Note: Mike gets a rose from Paulo.
  • Rose Drive: The rose drive happens. Daisy doubts getting Abbey a rose, so Paulo gets one on her behalf, only forgets to not write his name on it. Daisy gets one for Rachel on Paulo's behalf, writing a very sweet romantic note.
    
    When roses are handed out, Mike gets a pile from admirers.
    
    The rose Paulo sent Abbey on Daisy's behalf isn't particularly well received, between the name mix-up and Abbey's feeling that Daisy would drop him instantly for Mike, but Paulo pushes Daisy and Abbey together nevertheless.
    
    David got Paulo a rose, which he wore. A teary Rachel finds Paulo in the halls to thank him for the rose and note. Rachel is flattered that Paulo was jealous of Matt. They clear up Daisy's involvement, and Rachel makes it clear he's the only guy she wants to see right now and tells Paulo Matt's gay.

April

• Locker Prank: An unknown prank affected lockers and made Katie have a meltdown. Sue was a witness to it.

• Local Area — Stacy's secret: After school, Mike takes the bus with Stacy to work on a group project. He tells her her love letters she anonymously sent him in 8th grade were sweet, although she denies sending them and is appreciative to know he didn't laugh at them.
  
  At her house, he accidently discovers her secret: she plays MMORPGs. Although she's ashamed and doesn't want anyone to find out, he's interested and she shows him the basics and tells him she plays with Sue, Abbey, and Amaya. He promises to keep her secret.
  
  At home, he decides to play and makes a cute girl as his avatar. He says hi to his friends online, and after they sign off for the night he joins a public server. People think he's a girl and start making unwelcome advances.
  
  At school, he tells Sue and Amaya what happened and Paulo laughs at him. He keeps Stacy's secret, though.

• Abbey & Daisy get ice cream: Abbey chases down an ice cream truck for Daisy, but shuts her out at the door to his house.

• April 16: Small Fry
  • April 16: Paulo turns 16: It's Paulo's birthday! His dad makes him breakfast, he gets balloons from Rachel and friends and he interviews at Burger-Tron. Good news: he lands the job!
  • Paulo's New Job: After a productive study session, Mike, Daisy and Tess head to Burger-Tron, where they discover Paulo has landed a job there. He asks Tess to borrow one of her dad's cars and help teach him to drive, but she turns him down.
  • Paulo drives with Rachel: Paulo asks Rachel for help practicing to drive, and she happily agrees. She takes him to the empty drive-in movie theatre where they practice. Rachel apologizes for how their relationship started and Paulo acknowledges how unfair it is to her that he always prioritizes Lucy. Emotions are happening.

• Molly shows up crying: After school, Paulo mocks Abbey while he and Daisy are walking home. She tries to reassure him that "it's not a big deal".
  
  Molly shows up in tears and Abbey tells Daisy he'd rather deal with it alone.

• Test Drive: While driving with Rachel, Paulo offers Mike a ride for the joy of not giving it to him.

• Fight at Burger-Tron: Abbey mixes up Daisy's order at Burger-Tron and Paulo corrects it and mocks him. When Daisy says it was thoughtful of Paulo to change the order, it sparks a fight between Daisy and Abbey about her taking Paulo's side in things. When he suggests she'd let Paulo do anything to her, she slaps him. Afterwards, he's noncommittal about going on the hike.

May

• Scenic Route — Hiking Trip: Tess organizes a day back to the park to spend more time with her friends before graduation and to help Abbey and Daisy find their pace again. It's a bit bumpy as Daisy hurts her ankle and Abbey gets left behind taking photos. Paulo and Daisy talk about their post-graduation ideas. Everyone reunites for their pick-nick and has a nice time. At home, Tess contemplates her own next chapter and a college acceptance letter.

• May 5: Molly turns 12.

• James starts work: James starts at Burger-Tron. Paulo thinks he's cute.

• Total Recall
  • At School: Rachel asks Paulo to the junior prom. At lunch, Paulo laments his lack of apparel options. Thinking of this time of year last year leaves Mike, Abbey, and Daisy awkward. Augustus lurks.
    
    At cheer practice, Daisy is cleaning up the messy gym when Augustus approaches her, asking how she is and saying last year his intent was just to kiss her. She tells him that was going too far. He seems to starts to suggest they spend time together, before backtracking and turning to leave. Daisy stops him, telling him he needs help but she can't be the one to provide it.
  • Junior Prom: Paulo and Rachel go to Prom. Their trip there is in a limo with Jess, Tiff, Jordan, and Matt. When Tiff ditches Jordan, he asks Paulo for romantic advice. It's a nice night!
    
    Matt asks Paulo to drive the car home. Jess is sick and Rachel stays with her, so the group splits up in the parking lot.
    
    Driving home, they are struck by another vehicle.
  • Hospital: Paulo wakes in the hospital and thinks he sees Lucy, but dismisses it as a dream when he wakes to see Daisy at his bedside. There are no life-threatening injuries and his friends rally around him.
  • Back At School: After the accident, Paulo's friends dote on him at school.

• Textual Harassment: Mike and David text.

• Trapped — Reflecting: Augustus delivers groceries to an ungrateful Alejandro and Tobi. After seeing a white blue-eyed cat on TV, Alejandro becomes angry about the events of "Confrontation". He asks Augustus what he's doing about Mike and Lucy, and Augustus says that Lucy moved away to an unknown location, which sends Alejandro into a rage. He slams Augustus against the wall and punches him before Augustus makes his exit.
  
  Augustus sits on a roof—likely the one Lucy jumped from—and considers his circumstances. He's glad Melanie and Lucy were able to escape this mess.

• Boy Toy — Paulo's sexuality crisis: Daisy dotes on Paulo after the accident, much to Abbey's annoyance. Paulo kisses him on the forehead and tells Mike about it, who is surprised. Paulo becomes hyperconscious and insecure about his sexuality, lashing out at Matt when he came to invite him on a beach trip, much to Rachel's dismay. Paulo's distracted and on edge the rest of the day.
  
  Mike retrieves him to study, but is distracted and sad because Sandy hasn't responded in a few days. Paulo offers relationship advice and Mike is grateful.
  
  Paulo asks if Mike has ever liked a guy before and confesses that he might not be straight. Mike is supportive.

• Boy Toy — Paulo apologizes: The next school day, Paulo apologizes to Rachel for how he reacted to Matt.

June

• June 11: Matt turns 18.

• Last week of school: Mike gets flowers from Sandy and is grateful to Paulo to Paulo for the productive conversation they had about his and Sandy's relationship.

• Class of 2008 — Graduation: Tess graduates. Her friends are there to support her.

• Lucy attends summer school: Lucy attends a semester of summer school.

• Chris turns 3.

July

• Casual Outing: Daisy and Paulo go to the mall. The previous day, Paulo confided in her that he likes guys. They realize they both think Mike is cute.

• Guest of Honor — The Con: Daisy brings Paulo with her to the con as Abbey says he'll be busy that weekend and she's too embarrassed to ask him. They have a lovely day together at the con., with Daisy getting her book signed by an author she admires and bringing Paulo to see voice actors for a show they watched as kids. Then they run into Abbey, Mike, Sue, and Stacy, most of whom are in full cosplay as characters from their online game.
  
  Abbey follows Paulo to the bathroom and slams his neck, cutting off his air for a moment. He warns him to stay away from Daisy and leaves. Mike finds a still rattled Paulo, who lies about Abbey's involvement.
  
  Paulo says he's going leave, letting the others go to Sue's panel, but Daisy catches back up to him and has her mom drive them back to her house. There she gives him a power saber from the show they liked as kids. He goes home and Daisy discovers the keychain he bought her of character she cosplayed.

• Abbey turns 16.

• Golden Hour — Beach Trip: A beach vacation at Matt's aunt's place!
  
  Rachel and Matt excitedly research which colleges they'll apply to.
  
  Madison is introduced and people pick up on her similarities to Lucy. She and Jess are dating.
  
  Paulo and Daisy have a fight on the phone over his treatment of Abbey. She urges him to apologize to him, and he tries to hell her about what he did at the Con but gets cut off.
  
  Paulo experiences gay panic at David's sincere love of him, having already been uneasy about Matt. He winds up having a conversation about homophobia with Matt where they both confess to some insecurities and fears.
  
  The trip is stated to occur in July during "Boy Toy".

• Ice Block: Paulo buys David ice cream in appreciation. Appears to be the day after "Golden Hour".

August

• Chirpy reunion: Chirpy finds her mom and brother.

• August 14: Jasmine turns 15.

• Behind Closed Doors: Paulo and Mike are hanging out, but Mike forgot his SwordVale meeting and his gaming friends come up to his room. Paulo hides in his closet and overhears hurtful comments.
  
  He finds comfort with Rachel.

September

• Dial Tone: Mike has a bad dream about Lucy dying and Sandy not caring about him and finding him needy.

• James transfers: James starts at Roseville High in September as a Sophomore.

• Table for One — First Day of School: Mike is recovering from his dream.
  
  Everyone conveniently shares a lunch period! How convenient! Paulo is ignoring Daisy. Daisy physically runs into Augustus, David has ascended to AP English.
  
  After school, Mike goes to the tree and says "Happy Birthday".

• Clean Slate: Jasmine and Abbey are in environmental club together. Despite Jasmine's initial appreciation about what he'll think of her given the pranks she pulled as treasurer, they bond over Paulo's immaturity.
  
  Occurs on a school day with school implied to be the next day.

• Model Girlfriend: Mike is on cloud nine at school. Sandy is visiting that very day!
  
  They spend the afternoon and evening together, going shopping, playing at the arcade, and spending time in Mike's room. It's not without ups and downs.
  
  Since school began, Paulo has been asking about Mike's relationship with Sandy, worried that he's been down over her not being in touch. After the visit, he and Mike talk on the phone about how the visit went. Mike is elated.

• September 24: Love Again
  • Morning & Class: Daisy is excitedly talking about her birthday, but Paulo is decisively ignoring her and flirting with another girl. Madison gives him a piece of her mind for how he's treating Rachel.
    
    When they arrive at homeroom, they discover Lucy has returned! Her friends embrace her. Mike hovers awkwardly at a distance. After class, Mike tries to approach her, but loses his nerve.
  • Lunchtime with Lucy: During lunch, Paulo tries to call Lucy to sit at their table, but she declines, saying she's not hungry and wants to walk. Paulo persists and Sue heads him off, to Lucy's gratitude. Upset, Paulo lashes out at Mike, citing him as the reason Lucy won't sit with him.
    
    Daisy rises to Mike's defense, and when Paulo snaps at her, Abbey yells at him to apologize. Paulo asks if Abbey intends to "teach [him] another lesson" and reveals what happened at the convention. When Daisy is aghast and asks Paulo how bad it was, Abbey breaks up with her and storms off. Jasmine invites him to sit with her.
    
    Outside, Lucy discovers Augustus and hugs him with great feeling. When she realizes he hasn't graduated, she smacks him and he explains that Toby's demands prevented him from attending enough classes. She declares that she's going to fight for him.
  • One-Track Mind: James manages not to notice Paulo and Mike during lunch.
  • After School: After school, Jess, Madison, and Matt try to lift Rachel's mood after how things shook out with Paulo.
    
    Lucy and Augustus meet at the edge of the woods to lose Lucy's "ex-friends". They walk to her place, where she introduces him to her family as "the boy who saved [her] life". She and her family goes upstairs to confer. When they return, they offer Augustus a place to stay until graduation.

• September 25: Unspoken Rule
  • Before School: Walking to school, Mike can hear Lucy and Augustus bantering. They make a few targeted comments about him.
    
    Daisy hopes Paulo will come to her birthday party, but he has a shift scheduled. She emphasizes how much she cares about him and how Abbey won't stand in the way of that.
    
    Rachel talks to Paulo about his romantic feelings for other girls, putting on a tough face about their relationship status and shedding a tear behind his back. She's putting their romantic chapter behind her.
  • Dodgeball & After School: Lucy wins dodgeball, ending a showdown with Mike by catching his ball instead of pegging him. She points out how Daisy underestimates her physical strength.
    
    After school, Augustus goes to the library to study for the SATs with Jordan.
    
    Mike follows Lucy on the way home. Mike says he'd like to talk things out although Lucy doesn't appear very interested in the idea. Various hurtful things he said in "December" come up, to which he can't formulate a response. She flips him off and tells him she doesn't like him anymore.
    
    She arrives home to find Paulo on her doorstep. He asks her to the carnival.
  • Cut Short: Mike arrives home and texts Sandy, crying and asking for her to call, saying he had an awful day and hearing her voice would really help. She doesn't reply and sends another text claiming to be fine and not to worry. He clearly is not fine and sits at his desk, head down, for hours.

• September 25: After You — The Carnival: After doing some homework, Paulo walks Lucy to the carnival and catches her up on developments in the friend group and telling her how much she was missed.
  
  They have a conversation about hooking up the night of the play with a lot of heavy and complicated feelings. She makes it clear to him that she never would have slept with him if she hadn't been planning on leaving.
  
  She convinces him to go to Daisy's birthday party.

• Test Dummy: Augustus helps Jordan prepare for the SATs.

• Moments Apart — Daisy turns 16: Daisy's 16th birthday party! Jasmine brings Abbey, who intends to just drop off his gift and go, but some awkward timing from her mom results in him staying. With Paulo also attending, he tries to keep his animosity in check, especially as Daisy has a lengthy conversation with Paulo.

• September 29: PDA: Madison sees Lucy in the hallway and has some choice words for her that reveal a lot of her insecurities. They fall on a deaf ear. Jess hears, though.

• One-Track Mind: The track team watches Mike slam Paulo's face into the table. James is sick and misses the drama.

• September 30: High Expectations: Sandy still hasn't responded to Mike after he texted her, upset, on the 25th.
  
  Mike is in a foul mood at lunch and makes a snide comment. Paulo encourages him to open up. When he's ignored, Paulo snatches his phone and makes a comment about how his real friends won't ignore him like Sandy. Mike smashes his face into the table.
  
  Sue checks on Mike, but he shuts her out too and screams at her when she asks about Sandy. She says she can't let him treat her this way and walks away.
  
  Paulo goes outside with a bloody nose, only to find Lucy and Augustus laughing together. He immediately throws a punch at Augustus, which Lucy blocks. He's deeply hurt that Lucy would prefer to spend lunch with Augustus than with him and their friends and understand it. He asks why she came back if she didn't want to be their friend. He leaves in tears.
  
  Daisy sees him in the hall later and they talk about the day's events, with him withholding that it was Augustus he saw Lucy with.

• Mutual Assurance: Paulo apologizes to Mike on the way home from school.

October

• Escape Route — Augustus turns 18: />
  Augustus turns 18. Lucy brings him a cupcake and is perturbed that Toby or Alejandro is calling.

• It's All in the Mind: After Taekwondo, Lucy decides to walk home and runs into Sue and Amaya. Sue and Lucy talk about what happened last year with Mike and Lucy and the play, with Sue trying to apologize and Lucy reassuring her. Mike is skulking in the bushes, and Sue calls him out. Daisy also was following them back from the convenience store. When Daisy suggests that Mike and Lucy mend fences, Lucy drops the fact that Augustus is living with her like a bomb into conversation. Daisy's insecurity and jealousy of Lucy escalate the situation. Sue tries to convince Lucy back to the table again and is rebuffed. Lucy leaves, and Sue and Amaya make their own awkward exit. Mike admits to Daisy that Sandy hasn't texted him in weeks.

• October 19: Fair Game — Madison turns 18: A trip to the bowling alley for Madison's birthday. Paulo wrestles with his sexuality.

• Sugar Substitute: While Matt and Jordan study, Jordan reveals that Paulo hit on him in the bathroom during Madison's party.

• October 31: Witch Hunt — Lucy & Sue: Sue coaxes Lucy out trick-or-treating for Halloween. Lucy brings Augustus as a deterrent to her old friend group.

• October 31: Witch Hunt — Company: Augustus as a deterrent to Lucy's friend group proves only effective up to a point as Daisy and David both cross the divide, and Paulo brings Mike into the fold. Mike's relationship issues with Sandy and foul attitude towards Lucy bleed into the night, and Paulo leaves Sandy a nasty voicemail asking her to treat him better. She calls him back and Mike pretends things are fine.

November

• November 1: College Material: Lucy, Jordan, Augustus, Daisy, and Abbey are at the same testing location for the SATs. They (sans Abbey) stop for celebratory Burger-Tron afterwards. Paulo isn't planning on applying for college, but is encouraged to apply for a better job this summer.

• November 7: Unwanted Gift — Lucy turns 16: Lucy turns 16. Her friends celebrate. Mike isn't one of them.

• Time Out: Paulo and Abbey's fraught relationship gets them sent to the principal's office.

• Popularity Contest
  • Stacy ignores Sue: Sue is shunned by Stacy at school and resolves to demonstrate how popular she can be.
  • Sue tries out: After being shunned by Stacy at school, Sue tries to become a cheerleader. She really breaks a leg.

December

• Eternal Flame and On Call
  • Mike's Breakup & Rebound: Sandy hasn't texted Mike in weeks. He is upset and it bleeds into his interactions with Paulo, Daisy, and Lucy at school.
    
    After school, he dozes off, dreaming of Sandy. He wakes to his phone ringing and is disappointed when it's Paulo. They fight about his relationship with Sandy.
    
    Breaking down, Mike finally gets in touch with Sandy, but she breaks up with him, revealing she's in love with her hairdresser, Francis.
    
    Mike leaves home seeking solace and encounters Lucy. She lifts his spirits and he kisses her.
  • Mike & Sandy.
  • The fallout: At school the next day, Mike is absorbed in his phone as Sandy is texting him. Daisy and Paulo are happy for him, but a distraught Lucy runs out. Mike follows her.

• Burnt Bridges — Lucy & Augustus: Reeling from Mike taking Sandy back after kissing her, Lucy kisses Augustus. He stops her and affirms his platonic love for her.

• Burnt Bridges — At School: The Madison, Jess, Matt, Rachel, and Jordan make plans to hang out. Mike hides from Jordan and receives a note in his locker asking to meet.
  
  He discovers Augustus waiting for him, who asks him for his side of what happened between him an Lucy. A weepy and self-loathing Mike Mike explains how Sandy had been cheating on him and took him back, but doesn't really explain exactly what happened between him and Lucy. He promises not to speak to her again.
  
  Lucy retrieves Augustus to prevent him from skipping class.

• One Track Mind: James admires how fast Mike is.

• Fuel Economy: Paulo has a new car and he's offering people rides, including Abbey. Abbey is shocked that he would offer that to him and he discusses it with Jasmine.
  
  He asks Paulo why he's offer him a ride, and Paulo says it's the right thing to do. He's cheeky, but drops the facade and makes it clear his intentions are sincere.
  
  Abbey apologies to Paulo for elbowing him and asks for a ride to an environmental cleanup he and Jasmine want to go to.

• December 11: Amaya turns 16.

• Featured Attraction: Paulo, Daisy, and David go to the movies. Daisy thinks it's a date with Paulo and isn't expecting David, who reads the situation and mourns his interference with his OTP.
  
  The screening goes wrong when fans expecting the sub are upset that the showing is for the dub and get the movie restarted with the sub.

• Double Down: Mike is sad about Sandy. Jordan and Lucy get Augustus to hang with the seniors, but he's worried about her. Mike and Daisy talk about relationships (and kiss) in the library. Paulo walks Lucy home. He tries to encourage her to spend time with their friends, offering to cut Mike off if she wanted him to. The conversation only gets worse from there, ending with slapping and screaming. Mike cheers Paulo up.

• Track Meet: Mike and Sandy text and talk. Paulo worries as Mike isn't eating. Mike apologizes to Sue. James recruits Mike for track. Paulo and Daisy watch the meet. Mike thinks about Lucy.

• December 21: Link Play — The Mall: Mike goes to the mall with James and the track team. They encounter Lucy in the arcade. Mike apologizes. Mike tells Sandy about most of the day and she lets him know she might be able to be around for Valentine's Day and wants to show her commitment to their relationship.
  
  It occurs the Sunday before Christmas.

• December 26: Good Enough: At work, James is excited for the movie with Mike and Paulo gets jealous. Daisy stops by Burger-Tron and they talk about jealousy and unattainable people. David makes a plan to spy on Mike and James's date. Daisy is jealous about Paulo's romantic entanglements.
  
  It's the day before the movie date, which we know is Saturday the 27th.

• December 26: Date Night: James and Mike go to the movies. Afterwards, James kisses him and they talk about their relationship. David, Daisy, and Paulo show up at the park and David tries to hype up Paulo to James. Paulo races Mike for James's attention, but it's David James notices and recruits for track. Daisy leaves upset. Mike and Paulo talk and Paulo resolves to check up on Daisy.
  
  James invites Mike to a movie "on Saturday" in "Link Play", which we know is the Sunday before Christmas.

• December 31: New Year's Resolution
  • Paulo discovers his sister: Paulo discovers he has a sister. Mike tries to support him and they talk about relationships.
  • Lucy & Augustus: Lucy and Augustus are hopeful going into the new year.

2009

January

• January 4: Sue turns 17.

• Jordan turns 18.

• Jess's Play: Jess's play is performed. This definitely will upset no one at all. David, Madison, Rachel, Jordan, Matt, and Tiff all attend. Sue probably does too.

• Seeing Stars: Lucy has bad dreams. Her mom and Augustus worry. Paulo asks her about Daisy. Mike goes out at lunch with James and David.

• Play Fallout: Jess's play causes friction in her friend group.

• Rain Check: Lucy checks on Daisy and brings her to Burger-Tron. Emotions run high and Paulo tells Daisy how he feels.

• Review Session: Daisy and Paulo study and agree to keep their relationship from Abbey.

• Third Wheel: Daisy and Paulo want to keep their relationship with Abbey, but Daisy also wants people to know they're dating. Most aren't surprised. Abbey lends Paulo a book.

• Second String: At track, Mike struggles with people who liked him moving on. David finds out Paulo and Daisy are dating. Things at home aren't great for Mike as his parents are fighting.

• First-Degree Burn: Lucy is having bad dreams. Augustus asks Mike to stay in during recess. He doesn't.

• Participation Trophy: David helps reframe Jess's play to her friends. Sue is hurt about her own play's reception.

• Line in the Sand
  • Montage: Mike's relationship with Sandy has been full of unfulfilling phone calls as he goes about his life, taking care of Chris and hanging out with David and James at lunch.
    
    Meanwhile, Lucy's bad dreams persist.
  • Augustus confronts Mike: Augustus confronts Mike, antagonizing him in front of James and David and invoking how he treated Lucy until he physically lashes out. Mike claims Lucy led him on and she kicks him. David has a solution: Lucy returns to the table and leave Mike outside. James follows him in.
  • Lucy returns to the table: Augustus sits with the seniors. Paulo is worried for Mike, but Lucy mentions his "Say the word" promise.

• Make Fresh — At School: Paulo and Abbey make plans. Paulo checks up on Mike. Daisy and Paulo discuss Mike and Lucy. Jordan invites them on a double date.

• Make Fresh — Date Day: At the date, as Tiff is leaving early, Daisy and Paulo try to get Jordan to see that she isn't interested in him and he should look elsewhere. Paulo reveals Matt's crush on Jordan.
  
  After the date, Paulo and Daisy struggle with the speed of their relationship as Paulo wants to take it slow and Daisy would like a kiss.
  
  Jordan arrives home and receives college rejection letters, while Augustus receives acceptances.
