Jessica's bake sale takes a sinister turn when her "free cookies" produce some very peculiar effects on the student body. As pig-like behavior spreads through Roseville High, Daisy stumbles upon a centuries-old magical conspiracy. Can she convince a skeptical Mike to resist Jessica's saccharine offerings before the entire school goes hog wild?
Synopsis
The school bake sale seems innocent enough, with the cheer team of Jessica, Stacy, Rachel, Katie and Daisy happily serving treats to their fellow students. But something's amiss—Jessica insists on giving away cookies for free, brushing off Stacy's concerns about how this will make money with a cryptic "word-of-mouth" and "Trust me..." When customers take their first bites, subtle changes begin to manifest in their behavior.
Daisy, ever the perceptive one, quickly connects the dots. She pulls Paulo away from Jessica's tempting treats with the startling declaration that "HE'S ALLERGIC!" Once safely out of earshot, she reveals her shocking theory: Jessica has been possessed by a 400-year-old vengeful witch who created cursed food that transforms men into pigs. Daisy scoffs at Paulo's allusion to Jessica hating men ("Don't be homophobic!") but he reluctantly agrees to avoid the bake sale food.
Left to handle the supernatural crisis alone after Daisy conveniently remembers a "dentist appointment," Paulo recalls a magical sword passed down through generations of his family. Drawing it confidently from his locker, he prepares to confront the possessed Jessica—only for a teacher to immediately confiscate the weapon with a curt "No weapons on school grounds." Disarmed and desperate, Paulo finds himself cornered when Jessica appears, offering gluten-free cookies with an unnervingly sweet smile.
As Jessica shoves a cookie into Paulo's mouth, suddenly Rachel appears in a brand new guise...
Trivia & observations
- The classroom poster reading "Gotta get back, Back to the past" is a clear reference to the theme song from Samurai Jack.
- The concept of cursed food that transforms people into animals has roots in various mythologies, most famously Circe from Homer's Odyssey, who transformed men into pigs. Jessica's cursed cookies put a modern, high school spin on this ancient trope.
