Accidents Will Happen is a non-canon Bittersweet Club International comic about what would happen if Daisy’s one weak moment with Augustus left her with rather more than a guilty conscience, and what that would do to her, Abbey, and everyone around them.

Partial synopsis

Abbey and Daisy open the chapter tucking Molly into bed, both worn out. They missed their date because Molly “just wasn’t herself today”, and Abbey says he could not leave her. He promises twice to make it up to Daisy before they exchange a goodnight peck.

On the walk home, Daisy dwells on how nice Abbey is and how little she deserves him. Augustus then steps out of the bushes. Daisy loudly refuses to talk to him, saying she does not trust him. He apologizes for his past behavior and offers to listen.

Daisy tells Augustus that she has to be strong for Abbey because of his past and that being loved by Abbey comes at a cost. Augustus takes her hand, praises her as strong, beautiful and mature, and says that of course she wants “stress-free love”. When Daisy says no, Augustus offers to stop. She relents, and they kiss before tumbling into the bushes.

By morning the guilt has caught up with her, and it turns out to be the smallest of the night’s consequences.

Character dynamics

Augustus, a pretty good listener.

• Daisy and Abbey: In New Beginnings, Abbey tells Daisy that he loves her, while she says that she really, really likes him. At the start of this story, Daisy privately doubts that she deserves him. When she tells Augustus that she has to stay strong for Abbey because of his past, Augustus praises her and says she wants a less demanding kind of love.
• Daisy and Augustus: After Daisy cut Augustus off at the carnival in Love My Way, the main comic did not show him apologizing to her until Total Recall, published two years after this story. Here, he apologizes when she confronts him, and she agrees to hear him out.

Trivia & observations

• Oliver named this his favorite BCI chapter, calling it “indulgent but interesting” and saying it “provides some insight into the characters through a pretty weird situation”. In the same post, Veronica agreed with his choices and said she had “the most fun” making the BCI chapters.
• Augustus needles Abbey as “Abraham”, the same mock-formal name he uses to his face at the carnival in Love My Way.

• Love My Way: At the carnival, Augustus admitted manipulating Daisy and forced himself on her. Daisy slapped him and ordered him to leave. She still refuses to trust him at the start of this story.
• New Beginnings: Abbey and Daisy became a couple in this chapter. Abbey told her he loved her, but she replied only that she really, really liked him. Lucy then warned Daisy not to use him.
