All or Nothing is a non-canon Bittersweet Club International-exclusive comic that revisits young Augustus and Melanie’s secret romance from the Trapped flashback. This time around, Melanie spots the spy in the bushes, and things take a very different turn from there.

Partial synopsis

The comic restages the canon flashback’s campus fountain scene, where Melanie and Augustus discuss their future. She reassures him that he will finish school sooner than he thinks, and he suggests leaving together once he graduates. He tells her, “Consider it Plan B.”[1] Melanie nestles into his chest and works up the nerve to tell him she loves him. She gets as far as his name before her smile vanishes.[2]

Toby has been kneeling in the bushes and watching them. Melanie claims she has spotted her study partner and runs after him, leaving Augustus baffled at the fountain.[3] When she catches up with Toby, he admits that she was not supposed to notice him.[4] Melanie begs Toby to keep the secret and offers to pay him in a few weeks. He answers, “I already sent the text.”[5]

Melanie is terrified of how Alejandro, her boyfriend,[6] will react to Toby’s text.[5] Later, at Augustus’s house, she and Augustus agree to leave together first thing in the morning. Melanie insists that Alejandro will never find them. “Fucker’s so stupid he’d never find us!”[7]

Morning is a long way off, though. And Alejandro isn’t the sort to sit at home waiting for someone to pick up...

Trivia & observations

Toby smiles at Melanie and admits, "You weren't supposed to notice me."
For once, the lookout is the one who gets spotted.
  • The authors’ announcement describes the comic as one of the members library’s “side stories and AUs based on critical points in the old story” and says young Augustus and Melanie’s backstory goes “rather differently… with quite a bit more blood.” It was the second of five member comics planned for 2025 and carries a content warning for violence.
  • The opening scene restages Trapped’s fountain scene nearly line for line, right down to Melanie’s verbatim “You’ll be out sooner than you think.”[1][8]
  • In the main comic, Melanie appears only in the Trapped flashback.[9][10] She stars only in this comic.

  • Trapped: In the canon flashback, Toby watches the fountain confession without being seen.[11] Alejandro later attacks Melanie and demands to know whom she is seeing.[12]
