Door to Door is a canon Bittersweet Club International-exclusive comic in which Molly takes her cookie drive around the neighborhood with a very reluctant Abbey in tow. Mike, Daisy and Paulo all answer their doors, and each stop brings its own brand of trouble.

Partial synopsis

Molly has cookies to sell, and Abbey has been drafted to help. Wearing her sash and hat, she sings an original scouting song while Abbey trudges behind with the boxes and demands to know why he has to do this. Molly says Jana required her to bring a partner and calls the drive a good cause. Abbey guesses childhood obesity, then cardiovascular disease. Molly corrects him with “Childhood HAPPINESS, get it right!”[1]

Their first customer, Mike, nervously compliments Abbey for helping. Then Haley hugs Mike from behind and asks whether a good brother would leave his sister alone during every gym practice. Molly calls that mean and offers cookies to make Haley feel better. Haley orders three boxes at Mike’s expense, calling it “Restitution for emotional damage!”[2] After Molly and Abbey leave, Mike holds an empty wallet with a fly buzzing out of it.[3]

At Lucy’s house, Lucy is about to buy when Yashy, Chirpy and Blur leap onto her back, yelling “DID YOU SAY COOKIES”.[3] The household begins arguing over who gets a box, and Molly watches the order grow. “Jackpot.”[4]

That still leaves two familiar doors on the route. One belongs to Daisy, one belongs to Paulo, and the last sale of the day is the one Abbey will come to regret...

Character dynamics

Haley points at a dismayed Mike while ordering three boxes of cookies at his expense
Haley decides how many boxes Mike is buying.
  • Molly and Abbey: Molly leads the drive while Abbey carries the boxes. He complains about being drafted but does the work anyway.[1]
  • Molly and Paulo: Discussing later continuity for Molly and Paulo, Veronica wrote, “I didn’t intend for Molly’s canonical crush to be paywalled!!” The same thread later entered the main comic in New Year’s Resolution.[5]

Trivia & observations

A second print run of the Door to Door minicomic, fresh off the assembly line in 2015.[6]
  • Door to Door started out on paper. It was a small blue minicomic, mailed to Bittersweet Club International members as a membership gift, and Oliver called it “the last gift of the first year of BCI membership”. The original stock was printed in 2012 and ran out, so the authors assembled a second run in 2015.[6]
  • It stayed print-only for a decade. The comic reached the website in January 2022, “scanned-in, reformatted and freshened up” for the members’ library as one of two never-before-uploaded archive comics, alongside Picture Perfect.[7]
  • The “Jana” who told Molly she needed a partner is Janet, Abbey and Molly’s adoptive mother.[1] The nickname is established in At Loose Ends, where Janet accepts “Jana’s fine” over Abbey’s correction.[8]

Related chapters

  • Invitation: Molly tells Abbey to drag her cookie cart because he is supposed to help with scouting on weekends.[9] Those duties also keep him from joining the island trip.[10]
  • New Year’s Resolution: Veronica said she used this chapter to establish in the main comic what BCI had already shown about Molly and Paulo.[5]
