Another Way is a non-canon Bittersweet Club International-exclusive comic that replays the fireworks ending of Daisy’s carnival date from Love My Way, except that this time Mike takes the bait. Daisy gets the boyfriend she always wanted, and Augustus gets to watch.

Partial synopsis

The comic opens beneath the fireworks at the end of Daisy’s carnival date. Daisy rests her head on Mike’s shoulder, and Mike freezes before walking off without a word.[1] Daisy follows him, still carrying her teddy bear. Mike says he has a girlfriend, but Daisy grabs his arm and insists he has never given her a chance. She tells him that Sandy “doesn’t deserve” him.[2]

Mike shouts that he can’t be interested in her and asks why she wants to ruin what they already have.[3] Daisy grabs his face and kisses him anyway. On the next, wordless page, Mike wraps his arms around her and kisses her back.[4]

Mike admits that he likes Daisy and apologizes for “playing so hard to get.” When Daisy tells him to break up with Sandy, he agrees as they kiss.[5]

There’s just one wrinkle. Augustus has been watching the whole thing from behind a tree, and the evening has not gone remotely the way he drew it up...

Character dynamics

Daisy holds Mike's face as she kisses him beneath the trees.
The kiss Mike doesn’t pull away from.
  • Mike and Daisy: In the main comic, Daisy’s crush is one-sided. On this same night, canon Mike answers the kiss with “You.. disgust me.”[6] Here, Mike tells Daisy he likes her, apologizes for the wait and agrees to break up with Sandy.[5]
  • Augustus and Daisy: In canon, Daisy follows Augustus’s advice and confronts him after Mike rejects her. Augustus does not deny that the scheme was his idea.[7] In this telling, his coaching helps Daisy get the response she wanted from Mike.[5]

Trivia & observations

  • The opening mirrors Love My Way’s fireworks scene. Sue and Amaya watch from the crowd while Daisy leans on Mike’s shoulder and holds the teddy bear she won at the carnival.[1][8]
  • Mike’s “We had so much fun tonight, just as friends” objection comes word for word from the original scene. This comic repeats the exchange through Daisy’s kiss, then changes Mike’s response.[3][6]
  • Daisy’s “She doesn’t deserve you” condenses the argument she makes during the canon carnival scene.[2][9] She had already told Augustus that “Sandy doesn’t deserve him” in Rising Temperature.[10]

Related chapters

  • Love My Way: This story branches from Daisy’s carnival date. In canon, Mike rejects the same kiss and ends the night by telling Daisy she disgusts him.
  • Rising Temperature: Augustus begins coaching Daisy about Mike in this chapter. During their conversation, Daisy says Sandy does not deserve Mike, and she later makes the same argument here.
