In Deep is a Bittersweet Club International-exclusive comic in which Lucy turns up a little early for movie plans and finds Paulo soaking in a bubble bath. There’s plenty of embarrassment to go around, at least at first.

Partial synopsis

Lucy arrives ahead of schedule for a movie outing with Paulo, so she lets herself in and goes looking for him, calling his name up the stairs. She wanders past an open door, stops, and glances inside. Paulo is sitting in a tub full of bubbles, and he has very much noticed her too.[1]

The two of them stare at each other for a good long while before Lucy finds her voice: “You BATHE?!” Paulo, red in the face, protests that the movie is still a whole hour away.[2]

Lucy shivers beside the full bathtub and looks away.[2] She has feared water since she nearly drowned in Troubled Waters.[3] Neither of them leaves, though, and if the look on Paulo’s face is anything to go by, he isn’t about to break his long habit of being the one who gets Lucy through things...

Trivia & observations

An embarrassed Lucy steps back and shouts "You BATHE?!" while an equally embarrassed Paulo stares back at her.
Lucy processes a new fact about Paulo’s hygiene.
  • The comic was published in February 2013. Lucy left the main cast three months later in Breaking Up, making this one of the last Paulo-and-Lucy stories published before her departure.
  • This is not the strip’s first bathroom intrusion gag. Daisy once barged in on Mike in the bathroom during an early chapter.[4]
