Ships Ahoy, Season One is a Bittersweet Club International-exclusive anthology of nineteen one-page vignettes, each built around a different pairing from the cast. They contradict one another by design: some are couples the comic actually has, some are couples it never will, and some are jokes about the idea of the pairing itself.
Pairings

- Mike and Sandy: Sandy searches for a missing necklace twenty minutes before she has to leave.
- Abbey and Daisy: Daisy’s movie-sequel excitement meets Abbey’s personal rain cloud.
- Mike and Stacy: a shared keyboard and a proposed in-game hug.
- Paulo and Daisy: Daisy on drunk-Paulo duty.
- Mike and the Three Weird Girls: all three compete for Mike’s attention.
- Sandy and Daisy: a fashion show, with an admirer in the front row.
- Mike and Lucy: dish duty turns into a splash fight.
- Augustus and Daisy: a bad case of selfie envy.
- Blur and Yashy: Mike and Lucy tease them about being a couple.
- Paulo and Lucy: reading outside on a very hot day.
- Mike and Daisy: straight As across the board.
- Sandy and Lucy: an awkward face-to-face encounter.
- Mike and Amaya: a movie date, popcorn included.
- Sue and Lucy: a good laugh at some boy’s expense.
- Mike and Sue: Sue fumes her way through a debate while Mike stands by with her favorite drink.
- Augustus and Lucy: a duck-shaped cloud and a difference of opinion.
- Daisy and Lucy: dressing up for a fancy restaurant.
- Jessica and Lucy: a new set of pigtails for Lucy.
- David and Lucy: an extremely enthusiastic hello.
Trivia & observations
- The Ships Ahoy strips were drawn for Weekly Roundup, the Bittersweet Candy Bowl newsletter, and first went out to subscribers between 2018 and 2021. They were later collected into seasons and remastered for the Bittersweet Club International Members’ Library.
- Lucy is the season’s most-shipped character, appearing in nine of the nineteen pairings, with Mike close behind at eight. Only three pages feature neither of them.
- The Sandy x Daisy page is the only one told entirely without dialogue.[1] Sandy also walks a fashion-show runway in Just Beautiful.[2]
- Sue calls Lucy “Elle” both in this vignette and in the main comic.[3][4]
- In Flying Lessons, Mike tells Chirpy that Blur is her “Daddy”.[5] The chapter was published in 2006.[5] Blur’s “Denying your feelings is SOOOO 2006!” line uses the same year.[6]
- Before this anthology was released, Sandy and Lucy had interacted in the main comic only as small children in Left Behind. Mike remembers Sandy inviting “that weird girl” to play while Lucy turned her down.[7][8]
- Mike and Amaya discuss free popcorn during their movie date.[9] In the main comic, Amaya works at the Roseville cinema concession counter.[10]
Related chapters
- Local Area: Mike and Stacy play an online roleplaying game in this chapter, and Stacy insists that everyone on her server remain in character.[11] In their Ships Ahoy vignette, Mike asks whether his character can hug Stacy’s.[12]
- Ships Ahoy, Season Two: The cast returns for another season of one-page pairings. Amaya appears at the popcorn counter again, this time in a vignette with Paulo.[13]
