Another Kiss is a non-canon Bittersweet Club International-exclusive comic that picks up at the very end of Confrontation, and asks what might have happened if Mike had refused to swallow Lucy’s story that her kiss was nothing more than repayment.
Partial synopsis
The comic opens with the kiss in silhouette. Lucy pulls away first and tells Mike she “just wanted to repay” him, warning him not to “go having any weird thoughts.”[1] She then jogs away, smiling and blushing once her back is turned.[2]
In Aftermath, canon Mike walks home replaying Lucy’s warning.[3] Here, he catches Lucy by the arm and pulls her into a hug from behind, leaving her stiff and wide-eyed.[2]
Lucy shoves Mike away, but he turns her around and refuses to accept the repayment explanation. He asks what she is afraid of and demands an honest answer.[4] Lucy has spent years making sure nobody, least of all Mike, ever gets that out of her. Something, this time, is going to have to give...
Character dynamics

- Mike and Lucy: Lucy calls the kiss repayment, then smiles and blushes after turning away.[1][2] Mike refuses to accept her explanation.[4] In Aftermath, canon Mike walks home replaying her warning.[3] Here, he catches Lucy by the arm and stops her from leaving.[2]
Trivia & observations
- The teaser describes the story as taking place “After ‘Aftermath’”, but its opening kiss closely paraphrases the final scene of Confrontation.[1][5] Aftermath itself opens with Mike replaying those lines in his memory.[3]
- Veronica responded twice to questions about a sequel for this alternate universe. In March 2015, she said she would rather focus on the canonical story because maintaining parallel alternate realities “will get muddled and confusing”.[6] In May, she said there were no plans for one, adding “Unless I have an idea for it.”[7]
- Lucy wears a bandage on her cheek, covering the wound from the night before, when Alejandro raked his claws across her face in Confrontation.[1][8]
- Lucy calls Mike “jerkface” here, the same insult she uses in the original park scene.[4][9]
Related chapters
- Confrontation: The chapter this comic branches from. In its final pages, Lucy takes a beating from Alejandro to shield Mike, calls Mike her best friend, and kisses him in the park before insisting the whole thing was just repayment.
- Aftermath: The canon version of what happens next, and the chapter named by the teaser. In its opening, Mike walks home replaying the kiss and Lucy’s warning against “weird thoughts”.
- Another Choice: A later members-only comic in the same what-if vein. It opens on Lucy’s own confession scene from A Distance Apart and branches off from there instead.
