Everyday Life is a Bittersweet Club International-exclusive comic that follows the Roseville High gang through one ordinary school day, one narrator at a time, during the quiet stretch just before Lucy comes back to town. Everyone insists they’re doing just fine.

Partial synopsis

The comic divides its 25 pages into five segments set during the same school day. Daisy, Paulo, Abbey and Mike each narrate one five-page segment, while David and Sue share the last.

Daisy is up first, bouncing awake with a cheery “A new day with so many possibilities!”[1] She then spends ages straightening her naturally curly hair. In the car, her mom gently encourages her to accept the curls and jokes about having married Daisy’s father.[2] At school, Daisy lists her boyfriend, extracurriculars and friends as reasons she likes being there, yet lunch still feels empty to her.[3] Paulo keeps ignoring her, and she knows that reaching out would upset Abbey. She does not want to hurt either of them, so she invites Abbey to a movie and resolves to put him first while deciding she can work things out with Paulo later.[4]

At home, Rodrigo wakes an exhausted Paulo, who privately dreads another day at school.[5] He keeps up his bravado but takes genuine pride in his work at Burger-Tron.[6]

For now, everyone’s routine is holding together, more or less. Lucy won’t stay away forever, though...

Trivia & observations

Daisy works a hair straightener in front of her bathroom mirror, the counter covered in products and brushes.
Daisy’s curls never make it to first period.
  • This is James’s first appearance anywhere in the series. Veronica later said that “Only James existed when he debuted in Everyday Life!” and that the rest of the track team came later.[7] Here, he is Paulo’s Burger-Tron coworker and is ecstatic to share a shift with him.[6] Veronica also found the idea of him being “Paulo’s little crush kinda fun” and placed him at a private school so Paulo could keep the crush hidden.[8]
