Disaster Dominoes is a non-canon Bittersweet Club International-exclusive comic about a Roseville where everything has gone wrong at once: Lucy is obsessed, Paulo is addicted, Daisy is starving herself, and Mike is the last functional person in school.

Synopsis

Lucy is waiting outside Mike's house, hollow-eyed, and has been there "A while." On the walk she makes an advance more unsettling than flirty, and Mike gently deflects it. They pass Molly's tombstone along the way; her death has everyone on edge.

In class, Daisy trembles at her desk, spiraling over having eaten anything at all today. Kizuna, a classmate exclusive to this comic, recounts killing a mafia assassin, then excuses herself, knife in hand. David, barely verbal, is led away by his caretaker Alice.

This universe's Abbey keeps watch from inside the bathroom ceiling.

Daisy has it worst of all. She flees to the bathroom in tears after the bell. Abbey is already there, hanging upside down from a hole in the ceiling. This Abbey is her abuser. He drags her up by the hair and punches her mid-thank-you. Mid-threat, he abruptly collapses face-down and doesn't get up. Kizuna opens the stall next, only here for the "DELICIOUS DELICIOUS BLOOD".

Mike, meanwhile, begs Paulo to hand over his drugs, and gets a knife pulled on him for his trouble. Waiting outside the boys' bathroom, he tells Lucy he knows what she's doing to her body, and vows "I'm gonna try and be strong for the both of us." Then a crash sounds from inside.

Character dynamics

• Mike and Lucy: In canon they are estranged after Lucy's rejected confession in A Distance Apart. The AU flips the roles: Lucy is the obsessive one, Mike the patient saint. He confronts her self-harm outright and vows to stay strong for them both.
• Abbey and Daisy: In the main comic they are a sweet, steady couple, and Abbey's deepest fear, per Love My Way, is turning into his violent father. This comic is the version where that fear won: he stalks Daisy as her self-appointed "protector" and beats her for crying. Bleakest of all, Daisy still gazes at his fallen body with a little heart beside her head.

Trivia & observations

• Veronica confirmed on Tumblr that this comic is strictly a "what if" scenario. She later called its glimpse of Lucy self-harming "so very unofficial" — the only such depiction anywhere in BCB.
• Molly, dead before the story even opens, is alive and well in the main comic as Abbey's younger sister.
