Baby Blues is a non-canon Bittersweet Club International-exclusive comic focusing on a potential predicament of the elementary-aged main cast: Daisy becomes convinced she's expecting a baby—and Mike might be the father!

Synopsis

After school lets out, Daisy stumbles upon a pregnant woman talking to James. Overwhelmed with curiosity and shock, she boldly interrogates the woman about her condition. The woman gently explains that she has "a little baby growing inside" her that will eventually come out and grow up, but tactfully avoids explaining exactly how the baby got there in the first place. This incomplete information leaves Daisy profoundly disturbed.

Later, while sharing snacks with Mike, Daisy remains preoccupied with the pregnancy mystery. When Mike innocently asks to try her drink, Daisy happily shares her "warm strawberry milk" with him via her straw. Desperate for answers, Daisy approaches some older kids who gleefully misinform her that babies happen when you "share spit" with someone—"kinda like a flu." This revelation hits Daisy like a thunderbolt as she realizes she just shared her straw with Mike. Cue the panicked screaming!

Convinced they're both doomed to parenthood, Daisy and Mike descend into full-blown panic. A third child, determined to help, suggests the time-honored playground solution to unwanted pregnancy: a punch to the stomach. When this questionable remedy yields uncertain results, the distressed duo seeks out James for a second opinion.

Trivia & observations

  • This comic features significantly younger versions of the main characters, likely during their elementary school days, offering readers a rare glimpse into their childhood dynamics before the main comic timeline.
  • The sight gag of Mike drinking "warm strawberry milk" and being called a "freak" by another kid establishes Mike's quirky food preferences from an early age, a character trait that continues into the main series.
  • Daisy's wide-eyed innocence and tendency to panic over misunderstandings is portrayed as a longstanding character trait, showing that her anxious personality was established early in life.
  • The news post playfully misleads readers with the line "Daisy gets pregnant and Mike gets pregnant and Lucy punches them both in the guts!" when Lucy doesn't actually appear in the comic at all.
  • This comic humorously tackles the universal childhood experience of misconceptions about reproduction, showing how easily children can misinterpret partial information from adults.
  • James' role as the "knowledgeable one" who sets the others straight hints at his more mature perspective that's evident in the main timeline as well, though his final reaction shows he's still very much a child.
